If you had to have one piece of music softly playing in your mind for the rest of your life, what would you want it to be?
I would have to say Gorillaz, o green world… I really love that song

“They’re coming to take me away, he he ha ha ho ho, to the funny farm where…”
Honestly, as much as i love music, knowing my impatient personality, I don’t think I could hear any one song for the rest of my life. That would drive me nuts! But I haven’t heard the song from your description, so maybe I just haven’t heard the song yet.
It would most likely drive anyone insane having one song in their head for a long time.
la,la,la,la,la,la,la,la elmo’s world
Tchaikovsky’s “October Song.”
@ themherme – i like it! but its not my regular genre and its not a song i would hear on “repeat” . i really like this one song from gorillaz but of course i cannot remember it now when i want to.
Right now I can’t get enough of this song, but if we’re talking all time, I’d have to go with something I’ve already liked for a long time…...and I suspect this will be playing a few times on the 4 hour drive on Saturday to go see these lads for the 5th time!
I’d merge all my songs together into one giant tune and listen to that ;) but I like PnL couldn’t listen to one song for the rest of my life because I like to switch a lot. Also if there’s a constant noise wouldn’t you eventually phase it out? I guess technicalities aside I at this very moment in time would pick…M83’s entire new album lol. Seriously one song would kill me :(
I’d want it to be “The best of Marcel Marceau.”, a record of a live performance by the french mime Marceau including nothing but silence and some applause at the end.

At least that way it would take me far longer to go crazy than having some song stuck on repeat in my brain that would drive me insane.
strawberry fields forever- the beatles
Wildflower, I never would have pegged you as a big Bon Jovi fan. Can I ask what makes them so appealing to you?
@ wildflower – i really like the “fascination” song! do you recommend any others by alphabeat?
@playthebanjo
I assume you mean aside from the obvious: Jon’s smile and rear in a pair of tight jeans! I was shot through the heart (hahaha) when I first discovered them in ‘87 – and I’ve just loved everything they’ve released since.
@PnL
“10000 Nights” is another good one.
@wildflower:JBJ…nice. For me it’ll be Guns-n-roses (any)
Something Explosions in the Sky
@Notreallyhere
I could spend a day or two looping Paradise City :)
There is just something so catchy about that late 80’s rock music! Gotta love it!
Radiohead’s “Videotape” I want it played when I die. Haunting yet beautiful.
That’s why is so hard for me to appreciate “new rock”...TO ME the best era of rock is gone.
Some new things are good too – yes, I like some emo rock! – but, the first love of rock will always have a special place :)
The theme song from the Bananna Splits!
I like banana splits..no whipped cream
The music they play during Soarin’ Over California @ Disney’s CA Adventure & Epcot. I’d like the smells, too. Better yet, my own version of the ride.
Dude: “If you were stranded away on a desert island, what one grammophone record would you take with you? Excluding the Bible and Sgt Peppers for obvious reasons.”
John Lennon: (laughs) “One grammophone record? Uhh… (pause) It hasn’t been made yet.”
I would have the imperial theme from star wars. I would walk around like darth vadet “I’m know I’m cool with my cape” (but really just a whiny teenager with scars) lol
God Moving Over the Face of the Waters- Moby
everyone seems to be forgetting the theme from the greatest American hero.
I’ll have to check that out elchoopanebre seeing as I’ve heard it else where…it’s one of those songs I’ve been meaning to check out but have forgotten.
@skyrail
It’s a pretty relaxing and, dare I say, inspiring song.
@elchooanebre
I’m listening to it now and I remember I heard it in…this which is a slightly re-mixed version (that’s besides the point). It’s such a beautiful song…just so soothing, and if I was to seriously consider listening to one song all of my life it’d have to be one like the original version done by Moby :)
Cool.
Have you ever seen the movie Heat? That’s where I first heard the song.
Never heard the remixed version, though.
Nope never seen the movie, what’s it about?
Mhmm, now I’ve had time to think about it some of the calmer songs by Benn Jordan aka The Flashbulb are beautiful and I could listen to them all day. He does some faster Acid stuff but I prefer his smoother stuff much more, especially his newest album :)
“Waltz” by Craig Armstrong is the first one that comes to mind, but as much as I love my music, I don’t know what I’d do with only one song!
I always have “Merry-go-round Broke Down” playing on a loop inside my head.
I’m with PnL, I’d rather have no music playing than to get sick of my favorite song.
