I have a problem with my wireless xbox 360 controller receiver, can anyone advise me?

when I plug the receiver in and my play and charge kit, even just the receiver, it just losses connection momentarily over and over. I have had both of these for most of the year, and have not had a problem.The light turns on and the computer recognizes it and everything. But the controller will not connect. That also bring up another problem. The play and charge kit will not charge the battery in the controller, though it has always been that way, so I just leave it plugged in and play it like that.
