I don’t carry any money in my pockets, but I usually try to have $20 in the front section of my fanny pack, and a $20 bill in the secret back section. I use the money for snacks and drinks when I am out with my young grandchildren.

Jeruba's avatar

You mean literally in the pocket? or how much ready cash on hand?

WestRiverrat's avatar

I am going to a gun auction later today, between $3–5,000 right now.

ucme's avatar

I’m sitting here with a pair of running shorts on, nae pockets wee laddie…hence, no cash.
Of course, as we all know, a scotsman’s pockets are very, very deep indeed ;¬}

SpatzieLover's avatar

I have $3 in my back pocket and I think I have $40 in my purse.

I usually don’t keep money in pockets but went out from work before and instead of taking my handbag, just took out a $20 bill in case I wanted to pick up something from a store or whatever. So for me, now, it’s $20. In wallet is maybe another $20 or two. I like to keep a chunk of change in my wallet, maybe $100 at a time, and I try to buy gas with cash for the lower rate, and I try to shop with cash because using it keeps better track of what I spend, IMHO, instead of racking up the credit cards, unless by chance I go spend a lot, then I’ll use the cards or check. So maybe twice a week I’ll take out $100 in cash from ATM and use it up.

Nothing in my pockets but my wallet has: one $50, four $20, and two $1s. = $132.
It will sit there until I go to a restaurant or buy anything less than about $10, my personal threshold for using a credit card.
When it drops below about $80–100 I will resupply myself with $400 and I’m good to go for another couple of months.

Shippy's avatar

Ooh I am rich! I have R100. which is around $80. That will be spent on cigarettes. (Have to get priorities right you know).

P.S.

That is my total net cash flow worth as of today. I have five more days until the end of the month wish me luck!!

FutureMemory's avatar

Zero. I’m wearing my “hang around the house” shorts, which usually means the only thing in my pockets is my albuterol inhaler (damn asthma acting up lately). I have $94 in my wallet.

ucme's avatar

If we’re talking wallets, I have just over £500 in mine, with the kids off for half-term, that’s not going to last long.

mangeons's avatar

None. I almost never carry money with me, and if I know I’ll need money then I put some in my bag. I always have my debit card with me when I go out.

Shippy's avatar

@ucme Gosh, you are rich as well as hilarious !

SavoirFaire's avatar

I currently have six $1 bills in my wallet. I keep them for tipping at coffee shops and the like.

ucme's avatar

@Shippy I wish I was rich, as I say, most of that cash is already spoken for…kids, dontcha just love em?

ragingloli's avatar

I have £25:00 in notes in my wallet plus £8:95 in loose change. I’ll spend it on a train fare, a newspaper, possibly a cup of coffee and some groceries. This might last to the end of the month unless I see Skyfall.

ucme's avatar

@flutherother I see no GA for my “scottish” answer up there, did I offend you?

flutherother's avatar

@ucme @ Sassenach git!

ucme's avatar

Ha, typical jock!!

flutherother's avatar

@ucme Do you know why the 50 pence piece is 7 sided?

ucme's avatar

Oh dear, this is getting all “Braveheart” now, y’ll be flashin ya arseholes next.

flutherother's avatar

It is so it can be extracted from an Englishman’s hands with a spanner. LOL.

marinelife's avatar

Pockets? None. I don’t tend to carry a lot of cash.

chyna's avatar

75 cents in my back pocket and no money in my wallet. I usually put a 20 in my wallet on Sunday and that’s all I allow myself for lunch etc fot the whole week. I use my debit card for bigger purchases such as gasoline or groceries. (I work in a hospital where employees get a huge discount for lunch. I can get a very large salad for about 1.25.)

My spending habits do not change whether I have $10, $100, or $1000 in my wallet. I am quite conservative. Not cheap – conservative. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink much. I never go to bars. I don’t gamble. I don’t spend a lot on clothes or cars. I do like to go out to eat and I enjoy traveling.

muppetish's avatar

$4.25—mostly backup because I take the bus to campus. I also have about $100 stored at home for emergencies, but I rarely take any cash with me.

gailcalled's avatar

I keep a $20 bill and some singles in my wallet when I leave the house. I have a secret $20 bill folded under a credit card. I keep about $500 in cash in the house and use it for lawn mowing, cleaning help and my $20 bill stash. When it shrinks to $100, I refill the kitty.

I use my credit card as much as possible.

Sunny2's avatar

A quarter. (25 cents) Found it in the street. That’s good luck, no?

elbanditoroso's avatar

Not a cent. I am in my underwear. No pockets.

blueiiznh's avatar

Zip. I don’t carry cash.

wundayatta's avatar

At the moment, I’m guessing there’s between $75 and $150 in my wallet. I’ll spend that on lunches and breakfasts over the next week or two. Depending.

Jeruba's avatar

In my pockets: two separate wadded-up $1 bills and $4.34 in loose change. I have a habit of just stuffing the change from a transaction into my pocket and sorting it out later.

If I were to go through all the compartments of my purse, I would probably find between $400 and $500 in there. Some of it has been there for a really long time. Right in the active, accessible part, there’s about $26 plus a wadded-up $100 bill.

I don’t have any plans for any of it beyond the occasional drugstore or grocery store purchase. My husband does the main grocery shopping. I don’t use much cash, but I do believe in having enough on hand so that if I suddenly lost access to funds that depend on electricity and software, I’d have a little working margin. That habit probably grew out of being so completely broke for so long that now I just want to keep enough within reach to live on for a little while in case of some catastrophe.

I love that in Australia I can go into a place and buy a pack of gum with my debit card. It takes the money right out of my account. I never carry cash. There are very few soda machines here and that would be the only time I need cash. I can use my card to wash the car (or the dog), do the grocery shopping, get a haircut, take the dog to the vet. Every now and then you run into a restaurant or someplace that will not take a debit card so then I have to hunt for an ATM but that is rare. Course I should also add that a pack of gum here costs almost 2 bucks. What does a pack of Beechnut or Chicklets cost in USA?

augustlan's avatar

Nothing in my pockets, and probably $2.50 worth of assorted change in my purse. I rarely carry cash, but like to keep some coins available for the occasional parking meter or vending machine.

gondwanalon's avatar

I’m wearing my working around the house rags so I’ve got no money in my pockets. I’m flying to Ontario California tomorrow for 3 days and I’ll have $60 in my wallet. I most likely will not spend any of it. I usually just use my credit card.

jrpowell's avatar

Between my wallet and pockets I have $12.58. But I have a hundred dollar bill and a photocopy of my passport, ID, and SS card in my belt.

Pandora's avatar

Zero since I’m in my pj’s and they have no pockets. LOL
However, in the house, probably like 200.
What will it be used for. For either take out, or groceries.

Berserker's avatar

Nothing in my pockets, but I do have an amount in the bank, and a hell of a lot of spare change hanging around. I have about 100 dollars worth of quarters haha. I lost my job, so the bank amount is going to see me through until I get called back, find another job, or until work insurance kicks in.

If none of the above, I have a mummy in the basement that’s probably worth something.

newtscamander's avatar

Well, since I’m wearing pyjamas, nothing in my pockets, but I will change into the jeans containing my credit card in a minute and then go shopping for some food because my first very own fridge was delivered yesterday, and after two months without one I desperately want to stock it up! I know this is off-topic but I’m so happy!

rooeytoo's avatar

@scuniper – a full fridge always makes me happy too! (it means I don’t have to go grocery shopping again for a while!!!)

Congratulations on your first very own fridge! That is a milestone in maturity.

Shippy's avatar

@scuniper Ugh! no fridge sucks! enjoy :)

OpryLeigh's avatar

There is nothing in my pockets, I have just over £10 in my wallet which will be used to buy my lunch at work next week.

downtide's avatar

A £20 note in my wallet (which is in my pocket right now) and about £2 in loose change. At least half of this will be spent in the pub on Monday night.

newtscamander's avatar

@rooeytoo , @Shippy : thank you, I still am enjoying it! :)
