Can the light in a plasma light be replaced?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47126points) October 26th, 2012

I just bought the thing three months ago. Paid $40 for it. The bulb on the inside is burned out. I’m pretty sure it’s totally sealed, and if you break the seal all the gas that makes the electricity escapes…so, I can’t replace it, can I.?

I so hate the thought of throwing it away….

Are you sure it is the bulb? The problem could be in the transformer underneath. It takes your wall voltage and transforms it up to 3000–5000 volts.

Well, the bulb is all black and LOOKS burned out. if it is the transformer is it worth replacing?

If the bulb is black it is toast. The gas has already leaked out.

The transformer is sometimes fixable. Often the problem is the wire connection. But if the bulb is black that is not the issue. Sorry. Maybe you can use it as a prop for a psychic seance. “I see Grandma. She is in a place with green leaves… She wants to know why you didn’t listen….”

LOLL! No…I still have the box and all. I’ll just set it by the curb which will allow me to get rid of it and alleviate any guilt feelings I would have about throwing it away!

You can’t return it?

I bought it 60 miles away (120 round trip). Not worth the trip, really.
