What is the ideology opposite of this phrase? Details inside?
The phrase is Survival of the Fittest. What is the phenomena called that is opposite of this?
I’ve heard the term before. The idea is applied to humanity where the commoners and weak actually outlive the rich. I can’t remember at the moment.

The meek shall inherit the earth?
This reminds me of the movie, Idiocracy.
Meek is not a synonym for weak or unfit.
Meek is humble.
Idiocracy is about the society devolving into a dumber, lazier society. This is to me the equivalent of the unfit society. Imo, of course.
Well, that’s why I purposely put a question mark at the end of my off the cuff guess.
And as long as things are being excessively parsed, I’ll try, in retrospect, to flesh out my thought process.
In trying to figure out what the OP was trying to get at (since THAT’S really not that abundantly clear to begin with,) I was reacting to certain key words.
Especially, “actually outlive the rich”. Technically the words “fittest” and “rich” are not really synonymous either. There are plenty of rich people woefully out of shape.
And the “commoners” are not necessarily “unfit” since they normally engage in physical labor making them in far better shape than many rich.
I took the entire context of his Q as contrasting the aggresseive ones in power ie: “the fittest” and “the rich” as not necessarily out-surviving those who are less so and not in positions of power, ie: “commoners”.
The very words chosen by the OP to describe what they’re trying to get across are not congruent with their respective positions on either side of the power divide, so I interpreted their intent. I took it as being more focused upon power rather than strictly physical attributes.
And in our current society, it’s the rich (and aggressive) who wield the most power since there aren’t a plethora of meek (or humble) people who are rich and powerful. In an age where filthy rich corporations are granted the status of personhood, it’s pretty clear where the power lies and it’s not on the bottom humblerungs of the economic ladder.
Anyhow, I could be way off base for all i know and neither of us will know until the OP chooses to comment further :)

I think us commoners have more power then we but good point.
Survival of the fittest is a tautology. Those most able to take care of themselves will survive. The only wrinkle in this is the level of selection. Natural selection occurs at both the individual and group levels. A selfish person may do well in a group where everyone fends for himself, but the whole group may fare poorly against one where people within the group are more altruistic.
Natural selection is not an ideology, although denial of it may be.
@Jeruba I understand that. There is a term though however that describes a situation where the degenerates of society eventually out live the, “fittest” @bkcunningham is close to it, I’m not too sure if that was it though.
Actually, I think survival of the fittest has come to mean, express, a certain ideology. It is not really a scientific term that is synonymous with natural selection or the process of evolution.
Though I don’t know what the opposite of that way of thinking would be called, so I haven’t actually answered your question.
