Salari by Nameless. I don’t have the video, so this is for people who know the song.

The most common name for this style is Afro-fusion, which blends traditional African musical styles with contemporary popular music styles.
But aren’t there all different kids of music from Africa just like there are from the Caribbean? I don’t mean you’re wrong at all. I mean music of Mali entirely different from South Africa. etc. Even in the same country there are different kinds of music so, I wish there were more specific names for them. What woud you call fusion of compa and reggae for example?
You’re absolutely correct about the unfortunate lack of more specific names. My father is a big fan of African drumming music, specifically Ghanian and South African. His local record store, however, puts it all under the label “world music” with no sorting by continent, country, or tradition.
Looking into it a little more, I was able to discover that Nameless is considered part of the Kenyan hip hop scence. So it turns out there is a more specific label in this case. Wikipedia lists Necessary Noize, Redsan, Nonini, Wawesh, and E-Sir as other artists working in the genre.
Okay @SavoirFaire thank you. When I listen to Latino stations I hear similar stuff to that. I am familiar with music from kenya (before hip hop) and I don’t here any hint of that in this song.
For example, whoever the artist is, wherever they come from, the term “Blues-rock” tellls me what I need to know, how it would sound. Crazy exciting song though.
