Great question, @amberliy8 and welcome to Fluther. Now, if I knew the answer to your great question, I probably wouldn’t be here at 1:30 AM frittering precious time way answering questions. But I’m going to answer even though I don’t really know because there is always the chance that someone here has figured out a formula so powerful they can get all that Focus! work done and still have time to hang out and chat here. :-)
I have kind of the same issue specifically when its work and school related. The best thing I can think of is to make a list as soon as things come up and designate them priority. Most of the time you’ll see the things that you were worrying about are not that important in comparison to the things that need your actual attention. welcome to Fluther
Sometimes these things are actually a symptom of a brain chemistry issue, like ADD. If there are other symptoms, it might be worth getting evaluated. Medications can help.
As to things you can do on your own, I would suggest meditation or mindfulness practice. It would be worth finding a class in mindfulness. Many health centers and other wellness organizations offer them, as do Buddhist Temples. It’s a practice that helps you teach your mind to stop jumping around all over the place. You learn to let go of extraneous thoughts, and to focus on what is good for you to focus on. It can take time to learn, and it is a practice you need throughout your life, but it is really worth it.
Meditation, morning and/or afternoon, really helps me put things in perspective and lowers stress levels. Ujai yoga breathing does too.
It could be (or not) anxiety related. When I am anxious I cannot focus.. So its a little like ‘is it the chicken or the egg’. Have you been checked for anxiety? Just a thought.
You have to train your interest! ! !
You want you want to focus on is a very strong interest in order to enable you to maintain the concentration of attention, then how to cultivate an interest?
But said people completely hit the small difference is impossible, so whenever you get distracted, you must timely reminder!
I had a lot of problems with this myself as well… I failed study for about 5 times, but then suddenly something changed… I bought myself an agenda, wrote everything up that I needed to do for a specific lesson, if you know what to do, it makes things a lot easier. Especially if you have a hard time starting. It is important to know what you need to do… If you have no clue on what to do, you will soon find yourselve not doing what you’re supposed to do, because you have no concept of what to do. At least, this was the case with me. If you have ordered all the things you have to do, (only takes about 5 minutes really!) then try to do it, in the time that has been given to you, if you go to school, then you get a task, then do it emediatly, don’t hesitate or think about someone else, DO IT. When you do it during class, this will prevent it being a task at home, so it will be one lesser task you’ll have to worry about!
If you are allready behind on schedule on something, then try to finish it at school, or try to do it as soon as possible, as soon you have done a task, you don’t have to worry about it no more… So try to get as much things done… You might be lazy doing it, then just don’t get lazy… Don’t think, just do it! If you do it now, you won’t have to do any of it in the future, you can cross it off as done in your mind… Otherwise you will just be thinking aah I still have to do this that etc.
Most important is, make a schedule, what needs to be done at what time… In-case it is a lot, try to make time free for it after school…
