Any suggestions for a small hand-held cordless vacuum?
I have found that the Black and Decker models are getting worse and worse; shorter operating time; shorter battery death and shorter ability to really annoy me. It is a handy gadget. Have you used something you like? If so, what?
A mouse ate through a heavy towel, the plastic wrapping and 5 lbs. of ground corn kitty litter when I left the bag in the car trunk overnight. No outlets nearby. A dust buster was the solution, in theory.

I bought a dirt devil from homedepot for around $45 (I cant remember the model name but it’s the only dirt devil with a bristle attachment). I have 2 cats, 3 dogs and a 6 year old son, so I use it pretty often and I havent had any problems with it. I can run it for about 15 min on a full charge.
Andy and I got a Black & Decker as a gift a number of years ago. It was very efficient, and we liked it a lot. According to this set of reviews, they are still top-rated.
^^^Thanks. Some useful info there. Are you still able to charge and run yours?
I haven’t noticed any decline in their products. According to wikipedia in 1989 they were Inducted into the Space Foundation’s Space Technology Hall of Fame for its cordless power tool achievements and contributions to NASA’s Gemini and Apollo programs.
Just recently, they merged with Stanley Works to become Stanley, Black and Decker.
@gailcalled Ours disappeared somewhere in the mists of three moves in five years.
I’m sorry to hear that your mice have returned!
The wet-vac is the worlds greatest invention for catching mice.
^^^Even I would be too squeamish for that.
So far, all the reviews are hedged. The biggest problem, of course, is the battery life, both short- and long-term.
I may reconsider and buy one with a cord. I do get tired of having to throw these small appliances away. Just checked my crank radio and discovered that the AA’s had leaked and destroyed the workings.
(The wet vac is honestly the most humane way to catch mice. It doesn’t physically hurt them in any way, and you can release them in your least favorite neighbors yard or wherever you want.)
If you are going to buy a vacuum, I recommend just getting a dyson, they seem expensive but they are so worth the price. I laughed at my bf for getting one, until I used it a few times, it makes you cringe at how dirty things must have been before with normal vacuums.
@cheebdragon: How do you get a mouse to hold still long enough to vac him up?
With the Havahart, I do drive five miles from here and release them near the yard of a woman who was my least favorite.

@gailcalled I hope she wasn’t your least favourite because she was unkind to animals. :/
@glacial: No, she had been allegedly a close friend. After a personal tragedy in my life, she cut me dead while remaining very tight with my ex.
@cheebdragon: Does Dyson make a cordless hand-held little guy? Given the number of times I’ve had to replace the Black and Decker, I can afford to buy the Bugatti of the breed.
(I could do my own research if you don’t know.)
