What will raise the most amount of money?
I’m planning to take a gap year after I graduate from high school this year and I’d like to raise some money to do it. I plan on using a website but I want to promise I’ll do something if I reach a certain goal. Something funny, preferable, like wear a wedding dress to graduation, but it could definitely be something more serious as well.

Volunteering to be the sex slave of the biggest donor for a week?
You could sell your liver.
Perhaps I chose the wrong section of Fluther.
@toomuchcoffee911 How about a matching scholarship plan? Enlist some businesses and setup a foundation to raise money for a college fund for some group. You could draw a reasonable salary while doing it and maybe leave something behind when you go to college that might help a lot of others. The accounting and reporting is a pain, but what if you helped someone else achieve their dreams. Then wear the dress to college graduation with one of the people you helped.
If I were going to give someone money for a gap year, I would want to give it for someone to do something worthwhile; something that made the world a better place in a concrete way. Like if you were going to volunteer in Africa, and help teach kids to build solar cook stoves or something. Of if you were going to spend time cleaning up environmental damage somewhere.
If someone were to promise to wear a wedding dress to graduation, I would not think they were a serious person, and I wouldn’t give money. I wouldn’t give money anyway, unless it was someone I knew fairly well.
But that’s just me. I’m probably not your audience. Perhaps there is an audience for people who want to see a high school student make an idiot of himself. But I’m not funding that.
@Adirondackwannabe Thank you so much for your constructive help! Also thanks for not calling me an idiot! I will definitely look into something like that.
Hey! I did not call you an idiot. I said that a guy attending a graduation would look like an idiot, to me. Are you committed to that course already?
Also, I started with constructive suggestions.
Just out of curiosity, where do you fall on the political spectrum?
I read that a street beggar can make up to $60,000 a year just by asking for it.
An elephant suffering from avarice.
