Do you know any beautiful female names?

Asked by Shippy (10020points) November 15th, 2012

For a human female. The name can signify hope, peace and serenity. As well as new beginnings. In a different language or English. If it is a different language, please could you write how it is pronounced.

Thanks

Every one of them is beautiful, at least to the person that named the girl in the first place.

I have never found a parent yet that gave their baby what they thought was an ugly name.

Cirocco is my favorite. It is pronounced sheer-rock-o, and it means warm desert wind. It is also a really cool discontinued and recently revived VW model (spelled slightly differently, Scirocco), and the name of one of the greatest heroines ever, from John Varley’s Gaea Trilogy. And the shortening is Rocky, which is simply a fantastic nickname for a lady.

Calliope is beautiful but sadly people will mispronounce it a lot.

My friend pronounces her name “Cal li OH pee.” Most people use “Ca LI oh pee.”

“Ca LI oh pee” is the name I like.

“Kally Ope” is the bad pronunciation I would expect.

Leah… I think it depends on the person saying it how they say it but I like the intonation of this one. And the way it is spelled. Also people know how to spell it and pronounce it but it is not that common.

I’ve always liked Esmé since reading For Esmé – with Love and Squalor by J. D. Salinger a million years ago. It can be short for Esmeralda, which is another favorite of mine. Esmé is also a great name for a boat… upon the emerald sea.
