Yes, you can make it ahead and put it uncooked in the refrigerator.
Yes you can. Stuffing is one of those foods that reheats just fine in a microwave. I’d bake it first instead of letting it sit prepped. Make it easy on yourself.
Yep. I always make mine in advance, and just chuck it in the oven with the root veggies while the turkey’s resting.
@Coloma
So if I bake it tomorrow, then on Thursday when I go to my Aunt’s house I can reheat it there. If the dish doesn’t fit in the microwave, how long and at what temperature should I put it in the oven?
When dishes do not fit in the microwave, cut the food item in half and re heat it twice.
@NostalgicChills Yes, just divvy it up and microwave it, or, cover it in foil and reheat for about 30 minutes at 350.
Yes, it will be even better the second day.
I looked at your recipe. Don’t, I beg you, put any sugar in it. It is not authentic.
@NostalgicChills True Southern cornbread dressing would never, ever have sugar in it.
I find that most foods taste better the next day so you can make the entire dish one day in advance and it should be fine to go the next day.
I would put it in two 8” square pans so I could microwave it to reheat. If you are going to actually bake it at the place you are going to then it doesn’t matter. Make sure you ask the host if she has room in the oven for it. If she has only one oven she might not.
My fiancé made the cornbread for stuffing tonight, it is cooling now as we are climbing into bed. He plans to do the rest tomorrow. Great minds!
Thanks everyone! I decided to bake it and that I’m going to warm it up tomorrow.
It tastes SOOOOOO delicious.
