It’s the Thanksgiving holiday in the US Thursday November 21.
Overseas and over-the-border Flutherites, please contribute, too! One tradition of US Thanksgiving is inviting people over who might not celebrate the day otherwise!
Well? Let’s hear it!

Thumbs up for a GQ! Thankful I have the resources to start a new life, thankful I am loved by an amazing person. Who loves me unconditionally. Thankful that I have food in the cupboard, a bed to sleep in. I am in good health. Thankful that my anxiety and panic is at bay. Thankful I still look fab at 50!! Thankful I have clothes to wear, a home to come to, although not for long. Thankful that I have found my passion. Also for Fluther, who makes me realize there are people out there I want to connect with in real life. There are people with brains and hearts. I wish every one a happy TG, even though we do not celebrate it here. Which is a shame.
I’m thankful to be in school and have a job, living on my own and with health insurance. I’m thankful to have a research project that is important and fascinating to me. I’m thankful to have some wonderful friends and teachers, and one of the most beloved professors in the department as my advisor. I’m thankful to not have to worry about what’s for dinner, or whether I can afford heating or gasoline. I’m thankful to have access to medical transition and live in a place where it is safe to do that. I’m thankful to now be able to conceive of living to be 30. I’m thankful that I have experienced real love before, and know what it feels like. I’m thankful that I get to live as myself now, instead of having to pretend to be someone else.
My family is enjoying good health (and me too!)
I have generous and giving friends
I have a job, enough to eat and a warm, safe place to sleep in a wealthy country
My brother moved nearby this year (90 miles, but it’s the first time in over a decade we’ve lived within 300 miles and usually it was 1000+ miles).
(Oh, and I am thankful I figured out Thanksgiving is November 22 too late, to edit my question, though. DOH!)
I’m thankful for 8 beautiful healthy grandchildren, a husband who adores me, and the resources to live comfortably. I know how blessed I am and it humbles me.
Can we not do this? Pretending to care for a couple of days, lol.
I’m thankful that I’m healthy and have a good life, but there’s no point saying this stuff now because it only started because of a notch on a time scale.
@Blackberry should I flag your reply? That way you will get your wish ~
I am thankful every single day of the year, but it’s nice to have a special day set aside for it, if just because most people get the day off work.
@Blackberry Can we not do this?
No, we cannot NOT do this! I want some enthusiasm!
My question, my rules!!
I am thankful you were not drowned by Hurricane Sandy cuz you’re not in New Jersey these days.
Just thankful. But than I’m thankful everyday. Really.:-)
I’m thankful a full on war didn’t break out in Israel. At least this time.
I am first and foremost grateful to NOT be traveling this week.
I am happy that my mom and her husband are instead flying to be with us – so I still get to hug my mom, I just get to do so from the comfort of my home.
And, speaking of the comforts of home…I am so grateful to have a home, a job, health insurance and relatively healthy children. I have friends who have chronically ill children and it is a daily reminder to be grateful for good health.
And last, but far from least, I am feeling thankful for wonderful family..I think there will be 19 of us gathered at my fantastic SIL’s house tomorrow (she’s hosting, we’re all bringing a dish or two). Not only will we all be together..but I love every one of them so much – not even one dreaded relation among the bunch!
I am thankful for a little serenity this Thanksgiving.
Something very new to me.
We already made plans for the 22nd, so I’m thankful that T’giving isn’t really on the 21st, or else we’d be a day late! ;-)
My friend Jay who has made this year bearable,
I am thankful for the ability to say and write pretty much whatever I want in the country I live in. I am thankful for not living in a war zone. I am thankful for the roof over my head, the food on our table and clean water to drink. I am thankful that as a woman I can do anything I set my mind to and nobody will ever stop me because I am a female. I am thankful for having a job that gives me so, so much freedom and the ability to research and write in areas I am passionate about. I am thankful for my health and the hospital system I know I can rely on at any time, no matter how broke I am, to take care of me and mine if our health fails. I am thankful for the education system that has provided me and mine with opportunities and choices, whether we take them up or not.
In addition, I am thankful for my family, even the ones who don’t talk to me. I am thankful for my friends, no matter how infrequently I see them and I am thankful for all of you for the advice, entertainment and interesting ideas and information you present day in and day out.
@jaytkay thank you for the question!
And everyone for all the responses. I love that there are so many things to be grateful.
There is so much I could say. But I will hit the top 5.
I am thankful to have a good sense of humor. Life is too short to not have that.
Change without it life would be flat. Stagnant and hopeless.
Challenge it creates belief in self makes you fight to rise to the top.
Beauty it creeps up from the cracks it is strong resilient and just needs to be seen, to be recognized.
Friends and compassion. We just need to reach out and be open.
So thank you fluther and flutherites for contributing a little to that.
My thanks for friends and family. And my thanks for all of you on Fluther who give me an insight as to how people think.
I am thankful for so much. I’m about to hit 69 and still in good health with my own teeth, my own hair, no need for glasses and a fit body. I’m very thankful my youngest just totally aced the GRE. I’m thankful for my family and for owning my own business, as it lets me work for someone who will never fire me no matter how old and doddering I get. I’m very thankful for all the fine friends, camaraderie, great information and advice I get through Fluther. Thanks to all who make this site such a great exchange.
I am thankful my wife’s Coclear Implant is helping her hear things she has never heard before.
I am thankful the surgery went well, and there were no complications.
I may not have much but as the years have gone by, I have been more aware of what I have got than what I haven’t. It gets harder to hold on to things you have when not everything is all coming up roses. I’m thankful I have the roof over my head – regardless of how costly it is – and I’m definitely thankful I have my gf of nearly a year, who recently decided she was going to pay for me to go and see her next month before Christmas, out of the blue, just like that!
Lately I may struggle to be able to afford to eat and sometimes nearly run out of electricity at the end of a fortnight, but I’m glad I have what I have. If it wasn’t for those things – and some people – I think life would be much more difficult.
<———I’m thankful that Fluther let me join, even though I appear to be about only 2 years old.
When I told them that I’m suffering from reverse progeria and am really 65 YO, they bought it! ;-o
I’m profoundly grateful that my husband and I found each other, after we’d each sworn we’d never marry again. So thankful that my daughters are doing well in so many ways. Thankful for my husband’s sons and their families (including adorable grandbabies!) Thankful for my many friends on Fluther, who’ve taught me so much and support me in so many ways. I’m especially thankful for the jelly who launched a whole new career for me, a career I love. Thankful that Obama was reelected.
Last but not least, I’m thankful that my husband is cooking Thanksgiving dinner instead of me! :)
Well Thanksgiving is almost over in Australia and it is just another day here. No pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock to celebrate. We worked, it is now 6 pm and we have one more job to do. Soooooo I’m thankful that supper is left overs and only needs reheating because I am tired! I am thankful that my mate and I are both healthy and happy to be working at ages when most have long since retired. I am thankful for my dogs and the pleasure they bring to our lives. I am thankful I have passions like carving and running and other assorted creative or sporting outlets to keep my head and body busy. I’m thankful summer is here (hopefully to stay) cuz I just had my first cold winter in about 15 years and I wasn’t real crazy about it! I’m thankful that @jaytkay invited me to respond to this question. To all you who are still waiting for your turkey, Happy Thanksgiving and I hope you have a wonderful day! Cheers mateys!
My kids, my wife, my life & well….just being me.
I’m thankful for freedom, life, and the fact that Vikings kicked ass. Happy Thanksgiving yall! :D

Okay, so that answer, along with the song, was cheesy…...I don’t care see :¬)
I’m thankful for the ceasefire.
I am thankful for my wonderful boyfriend and awesome dad, both of whom support me and look out for me.
I am thankful for my job which allows me to work with my favourite subjects, dogs, and get paid for it. I am also thankful for the various people that helped me pay for the course I am currently taking which is teaching me more and more about dogs and their welfare and adding to my qualifications which will hopefully ensure that I will be able to make a career out of this for a long time to come.
I am thankful for the fact that I, very rarely, have to go for long periods of time without being able to eat (I have to remind myself of this luxury when I am down to my last tin of beans or soup, at least I have people that will help me out when I am short on money and it is a long time until payday!!!)
Family and friends, pillows and toilet paper.
Yeah, can’t believe I said that before you. :)
AWESOME THANKS, EVERYBODY!!
@Blackberry Thanks I appreciate the apology. I took no offense, I trust your good intentions, I know you well enough from Fluther. Sorry I reacted badly to your post. Cheers!
