@Hawaii_Jake Cool. I didn’t know joining fluther would bring me immortality.:) It’s brought me some awesome gifts but that’s wild.

I have reached an age where I feel like I’m aging in reverse. It won’t be long until I am wearing diapers and gumming my food.

I do know – I just read it on Facebook!

I, also. I read it in the Times.

Wow, cool article. Thank you for sharing @Hawaii_Jake . Far too long to read at bedtime, but I’ve read a quarter of it and will finish it tomorrow.

So far I’ve learned that not only are these jellies immortal, but they are poised to take over the world!

Great article, @Hawaii_Jake but… while I certainly would like to live a good, long life, in good health, I’m not sure I want to live forever. Who knows? Maybe death is the beginning our “next great adventure.”

Just a little philosophical and existential musing there; not looking for an argument.

Prefer the telomerase idea. Rather stay in my prime rather than become physically of an age that it is illegal to have sex or drink or drive.

I heard about the immortal jellyfish a while back, but it was nice to be reminded. So interesting!

Fascinating article! I particularly admired this sentence: It is possible to imagine a distant future in which most other species of life are extinct but the ocean will consist overwhelmingly of immortal jellyfish, a great gelatin consciousness everlasting. . . . I’m rather smug with my “great gelatin consciousness everlasting” right now!

@ucme I adore you but I am not a saint and I have to say that I am just, plain and simple, not above showing you up and making sure that everyone here knows that I am just better than you are. :-)
