After 12/21/12, which date will be the subject of the next end-of-the-world hypothesis?

December 20th, 2012
Last year, it was predicted that May 21, 2011 would be the beginning of Judgement and that the world would end in October. Quite a while before that date, however, people had already predicted the next date for the end of the world, which is December 21, 2012. So, chances are that someone has already predicted the next date after 12/21/12. What is it?

This idea of predicting the end of the world is quite interesting as it is something we are fascinated with, as can be seen by the OMG nature of December 21st.
Most of them are now linked to things such as asteroids hitting us and there are theories that one will hit us in 2029 although others say it will be 2036. That being said, one of the next theories about the end of the world that is linked to religion comes from an Islamic scholar called Said Nursi who also believes it will end in 2129 due to his interpretation of a text that forms part of the hadith.
I’m sure that there will be other people popping up online with ideas about when the world will end, for example there is a psychic that says it will happen in 2020, but they predicted it would end in the 60s as well so they have experience of missing the boat.
But if I wake up tomorrow and Australia has vanished over night, then I will add another answer here heavily editing what I have just said.
I predict that it will happen once the Sun runs out of fuel (and it will). That’s the only realistic explanation I can give. Everything else is a little nonsensical.
It could also mean the end when a mile long meteor hits the Earth. That would be pretty devastating.
I have no idea why people care when the world ends, anyway. We’re all destined to die at some point, so it doesn’t really matter.
I will be staying inside tomorrow because all the nutcases will be out there committing ridiculous crimes because “it’s the end of the world” is such a reasonable excuse to do random shiz.
Since all dating systems are arbitrary, let’s just stipulate that the end of the world is on 12/12/12 when translated from whatever system you are using into the whaes (world has an end system).
Adding to my previous statement (because I forgot): Different areas have different time zones (obviously). So it could say the world will end on 12/21, but in some parts of the world (like Australia) it could already be 12/21 way before America; where it would be 12/20.
Next “end of world” date; 11/12/13.
When a gay American comes truly close to being elected as president most likely. : )
My 10-year old daughter, who attends Catholic school, says to me today (after I picked her up from school), “Why do people want to predict the end of the world? Are they in a big hurry to find out there’s no heaven?”
@Hypocrisy_Central: I’ll take that bet.
@mazingerz88: What if they get elected?

Honey Boo Boo turns 18
What’s a “Honey Boo Boo”?
As I was doing some Christmas Shopping today, just in case there is a 12/25/2012; this exact topic came up. One person suggested that one of the 12/21/12 prophets has already hedged his bets. He claimed that the Mayans didn’t calculate leap years, and that adding those extra days in takes it out to 3/21/2013.
I only predict that there will be no end to end-of-the-world prophecies. I further predict that every one that gains serious traction, like the Y2K doomsayers, the 2003 collision with the rouge planet Niburu, and the 12/21/12 believers will all have, according to the interpreters of (insert your favorite: Nostradamus’ prophecies, Illuminati prophecies, Bible code prophecies, Ancient Alien revelations) have already been foreseen by their great seer. That’s a safe bet, since all the aforementioned plus plenty more have been.
Someone already beat me to it, when we elect an openly gay or atheist president. Gee, the world is always coming to an end when we elect a liberal president, according to right-wing reactionaries.
@Paradox25 Haha.
Well, I’m still here wondering if I’m the last person on Earth like the apocalypse passed over my house or something.
@Paradox25: I’m hoping for an openly gay, atheist, black woman – just to see Rush Limbaugh spontaneously combust and explode.
