What do you take with you?

Asked by AstroChuck (37666points) June 8th, 2008

You have to evacuate your house and can bring only one material item with you (people and pets are presumed already safely outside). What is it?

I’ve actually thought about this a lot – I would take my photo albums. Almost everything else can be replaced one way or another.

The favorite stuffed animal of my baby, probably, its called “press” lol and its the only thing that makes him smile when he’s angry or sad or sick… And his blanket.

Hmm… my phone. So that I can call people. My work is backed up to elsewhere, so I’m not loosing anything work wise, and my dog is safely outside. If pets weren’t included, it would definitely be my dog, even if it meant my business fell apart because I’d lost all my client work or something. There’s some things you can’t replace.

Like @jp, I also would hafta grab the main external backup drive… I know how painful life is if that info gets gone.

imac or the backup. It has my entire business on it.

Laptop. But that is, in part, for all the photos and emails that are on it. Sort of like getting my work data AND my photo albums for the price of “one precious object”.

Plus, if everything burnt, I’d need that computer to make money!

The first stuffed animal I ever owned. Her name is Monkey and she’s a chimpanzee. Her fur is matted from being loved so much. She’s been left in an airport bathroom, left outside in the rain, had gum stuck to her, and squeezed to death when I was really scared at night. She’s protected me from the bad ghosts, the things under my bed, and the creepies in the closets and around the corners. I couldn’t leave her to burn. Not after she’s done so much for me. <3

Laptop..not cause I love my computer, just because it would be comparable to a box of photos
