I heard this song in the late 70’s or early 80’s. It’s a ballad sung by male voice and all I can remember is the refrain that goes: I’m so f**cking lonely I could die.

Elvis sings something similar in Heartbreak Hotel
The refrain is:
You make me so lonely, baby,
I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.

Hank Williams and Johnny Cash also sang “So Lonely I Could Cry”. I’m not aware of a ‘blue’ version.
The closest I can find is Tim Curry: Sloe Gin
Thank you syz. It was indeed Sloe Gin by Tim Curry that I have been searching for for over 30 years. Truly grateful for your assistance. How awesome to be finally re-united with this masterpiece.
Kind Regards

BTW, thanks to syz I found the Joe Bonamassa version of Sloe Gin on youtube as well as the Tim Curry original. The Joe B cover version is sanitized by changing the lyric “I’m so F*cking Lonely” to “Damn Lonely”. However, the Tim Curry version is full of emotive pathos and way better than the Joe B cover version.
@mantara – Excellent! I did some searching but found nothing beyond what Gail and syz turned up, so I didn’t bother to comment. I’m glad you got your answer. Welcome to Fluther!
ELVIS!!! How do you not know that!? :)
