Lucia means ‘Light’. There is a St. Lucia and she is celebrated here in Scandinavia every December just before Christmas.
The Latin word for light is Lux and I think that would make a pretty cool and tough girls name.

Hikari means light in Japanese. It is easy to pronounce and has a strong, staccato feel about it.
