Please help me restore the original Safari that came with my MacBook?
I have a MacBook OS X, version 10.7.5. One day I happened across the “update” for the new Safari application. I decided to download it. However, now there is a white “X” sign on the Safari button on my dock. When I go to open the application, a box pops up that says: “You can’t use this version of Safari with this version of Mac OS X, The application requires 10.8 or later”.
Great! So now I have no idea how to get my old Safari back.. I don’t understand why Apple would update a program and not allow all units to access it. I checked to see if I could update my Mac to a 10.8, but there are no system updates available. I also tried downloading an older version of Safari but that didn’t work either. Please help!

You have to upgrade to Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8. $19.99 at the app. store. It should be straightforward since you are already running Lion 10.7.5.
Here are the details
If I understand your question, you don’t want to update to the latest OSX, but rather, revert to the previous version of Safari. If so, Try this link.
@gailcalled Okay, so I purchased Mountain Lion (regrettably). However, every time I try to download it eventually it will fail and tell me to check my internet connection, which is fine!
@desiree333: When I tried to download Mt. Lion on my Mac, my internet connection was too slow (medium speed DSL with a crap server). So I took the laptop to an Apple store with a fast broadband, and they did it for me overnight.
So perhaps it is the speed rather than the connection.
Call 1–800-MY-APPLE and ask someone.
@gailcalled There is a Apple-certified store at my uni, I’ll just bring my laptop to them tomorrow. It must be the speed, I have an old router and sometimes things get kind of slow..
