For 2012–13: did you get your flu shot but have gotten the flu? I don’t get flu shots and haven’t had flu since ‘88.

Flu shots on good years are around 60% effective, as in 40% of people who get them are still capable of catching the flu. Unfortunately the Flu mutates so quickly that a lot of times the vaccine we work up is for an older version of the flu by the time we start giving it out in shot form.
I didn’t get the Flu at all until college, then I got it like 3–4 times, once a year in the first few months of the year… and shortly after starting to get physical with a new girl each time.
Did you get the shot but still get the flu ted?
This is the first year I’ve gotten the flu shot. I’ll let you know if I get the flu. If I do, it won’t be because of the shot, it will be because I got a version of the flu not covered by the shot.
@Aster I don’t remember ever having got a flu shot in my life. My mother may have had me get it when I was younger and I just don’t remember, but I can’t verify that at the moment.
Pardon my intrusion but I already had the flu two weeks ago yet there are still people around me who are having bouts with it. Would I need to get a flu shot?
In my opinion, it’s too late now after all that exposure.
I’ve gotten them nearly every year that I’ve worked in healthcare. I only recall one year when everyone in the family got very sick – I don’t know for sure if it was the flu, and I’m pretty sure it was one of the years that I was out of work.
Got no flu shot, got no flu.
