Am I sick or not? What is this weird illness?

Asked by Aster (20028points) January 21st, 2013

Last night when I got in bed with my big pile of down comforters and flannel sheets I had some light chills. I did not sleep well at all for some reason. This morning I again had some chills and was extremely sleepy for many hours so I took a nap. Is this the flu or something else? I feel ok now. Not great. I took Silver Sol twice today.

Think back—is this how you’ve felt before prior illnesses? For me, my first symptom of an oncoming cold is being really tired and sneezing many times in a row, not so much chills.

I haven’t had the flu since I was a child, so I can’t remember what the onset was like, but chills can definitely be a symptom of the flu.

Have you taken your temperature today? Popped some aspirin or vitamin C?

I hope it’s not the flu, and in any case I hope you feel better soon.

@bookish1 No to all 3 questions and the chills are gone for now. I feel ok . Don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Thanks.

I had to google silver sol. It may be the cause of your problems. Its list o’ benefits includes, but is not limited to, AIDS. Not good to ward off (lol) AIDS, or even to cure it (LOL), it simply lists AIDS as one of its benefits.

See Here

I’d take a couple of Tylenol Cold, chuck the Silver Snake Oil Sol and make some tea.

It can’t be the cause of my problems. I haven’t taken any in a couple months then after taking it twice my chills are gone. I don’t need Tylenol cold because I have zero congestion.

How much per pill? Just curious. I’m thinking it doesn’t say anywhere – and we don’t have it here. Oh, there are many types of these Herba-life products on the market – proclaiming benefits that will cure your Hep C, diabetes and even give you the codes for Farmville.

Nota bene; half my students are sick. Tis the season.

And when someone says take a Tylenol Cold – it’s like saying use Kleenex; I didn’t mean specifically one brand or another – or whether to use regular or extra strength, with or without codeine.

Be well.

Per pill ? It’s a liquid. I’m not wanting to get into defending the product, ok? I’m merely saying I took 3 capfuls twice. Make of that what you will (or won’t) . All I wanted to know is what the illness is or was.

zensky's avatar

So defend it. And I asked its price, if you don’t mind. Maybe I’ll try some.

It is twenty something dollars for the largest bottle on amazon. Once I was getting a sore throat and I took a teaspoon of it and that was all I needed. You can get an 8oz bottle for a little more than half the price of the large bottle. I also buy the gel . You can brush your teeth with the gel and or put it on skin problems. It’s wonderful for any kind of bug bite that itches.

And AIDS.

Thanks. Be healthy.

Is it too obvious to suggest you see a doctor if you are concerned…

Judi's avatar

I am not sure how old you are, but I get chills then hot flashes. I’m almost 53. Are you old enough for it to be menopause?

Aster's avatar

@Adagio I’m not as concerned as I am curious. I had a few chills, then insomnia and today I’m fine. No doctor would ever know what was wrong. And many of them will actually admit it.

@bookish1 How have you avoided the flu’ so long?

bookish1's avatar

@Shippy, I get a flu shot every year. I am included in the people most likely to die from the flu: children, elders, and people with compromised immune systems and/or chronic illnesses. I still get colds all the time, though.

@bookish1 Goes to show it works then hmm….
