Do you vote for staying at the beach or staying near the track in Daytona Beach, FL, USA?

I’m planning a trip to Daytona Beach for one of my husband’s races and am trying to decide whether to stay near the track or at the beach. Of course the idea of the beach is more alluring, but the reality is we probably won’t get to enjoy it much.
Some more info, it will be in October, weather can be hit or miss in October since the weather is starting to change. Can be beautiful and sunny or easily could be rainy. Not a FL 45 minute summer thunderstorm, but can be a rainy day.
If you know Daytona well, can you tell me if the intracostal bridge on the main road that passes by the track goes up reguarly? If my husband had to time driving every morning with also corrdinating bridges going p that would probably get annoying. Also, I assume there is some rush hour traffic going west in the AM from the beach?
If you don’t know Daytona, still feel free to give me your vote for where to stay.
Near the track I am considering Residence Inn or Courtyard. If you have stayed at ether any feedback is appreciated. The RI looks a little dated, is it? On the Beach I am considering Holiday Inn and Suites, but generally I have bad experiences at Holiday Inns. However, this gets good reviews on tripadvisor.

I love water. Has to be the beach. I’m bad. I love babes in bikinis too.
Since you can literally drive on the beach, stay near the track. Personally, I think the beach is meh – the rip currents are terrible, and the sand is dirty. I stayed there for a month and spent about five minutes at the beach.
@Seek_Kolinahr The last time I was in Daytona at the Beach was probably 25 years ago and was not impressed. But, it was so long ago it easily could have been renovated so I didn’t want to assume. I kind of remember the main road through there by the raceway had heavy traffic. We once existed there on our way to Amelia Island to get some lunch. Do you know if the bridge is stationary? I probably will call the hotel to find out.
I don’t remember, to be honest. There are several bridges, and I was there when I was 18 (so, nine years ago) and I didn’t drive yet. Lots of walking, and they have a decent bus system there.
Of course, since you live in FL you are jaded a little. By then I will be back in FL also.
In general, I prefer the beach. But if the beach sucks and you’re not going to have time to be there, then I’d stay near where you’re going to spend most of your time. Limit your commute.
Beach always win any question.
New Smyrna, Florida where the Floridians go.
