I saw it for the first time tonight and it really got under my skin. It’s one of the most tense and unsettling thriller films I’ve ever seen. For those who have seen it, what do you think of it?

I saw it for the fist time last year and it got under my skin, too. Could have been made today. Even the technology, primitive as it was, was ahead of it’s time. And Hackman was sooooo damned good.
In 1974, this was considered a better film than Coppola’s other film, “The Godfather Part II”.
It is very unsettling, but I enjoyed Gene Hackman here more than any film other than “The Unforgiven”.
What I don’t like about the film is how jerky the scenes seem to be at times, which is a technique used to keep audiences interested.
@filmfann The technique seemed to be used only in the flashbacks, which I thought was appropriate. The camera during the present day was pretty steady.
Hackman is a mighty fine actor, he delivers in every movie he’s in & this is no exception.
Crimson Tide/Enemy of the State/Bonnie & Clyde/Unforgiven all bringing flawless performances, but The French Connection films remain his finest hour, fantastic actor.
No, but I’ll try to check it out! If it’s made in the 70s, it’s not a classic film as far as I’m concerned…
It’s one of the best, and most haunting, movies I’ve ever seen.
The surprise twist literally sent chills up and down my spine. (No, I won’t give away any spoilers for those of you who haven’t watched the film.)
Oh wow, started watching it but after 10 minutes I decided to quit. I think I’ll get back to it. : )
I saw it on Netflix. I thought it was really good.
I’ve not seen it but I am now going to.
I haven’t, but I will now. Thanks for the tip!
I didn’t really get the end. Can someone PM me the synopsis lol?
