How good is amazon.com in the UK?

Asked by Judi (40025points) March 10th, 2013 from iPhone

Two of my grand kids will be moving to the UK in a few months. I am an amazon.com junkie and am always buying gifts and having them sent to family and friends across the US.
Does Amazon UK have as good a variety of items as the US? Does it have a Prime program for free shipping? I’ll be sad if its limited to just books.
Is there a better online retailer over there that I should be considering?

I’ve used in from America and also in England and it seems to be pretty much the same as the .com version.

I ordered a DVD from amazon.uk. It came in dreary looking due to lack of sun exposure. Lol. Seriously, I had no problem at all. They converted dollars to euro themselves.

My best friend lives in Wales, and I use amazon.co.uk often to send her gifts and such. I’ve had no problems with it at all.

You can get almost anything from Amazon at a good price and delivered super efficiently by the Royal Mail. It is killing our High Street.

I’ve used it a lot in recent months, and it hasn’t disappointed me yet. Delivery is very quick as well. Just one book I ordered from the US took almost a month to get here, but always in the estimated time of delivery window, so no unpleasant surprises. Overall, I’d say it works really well and I’d definitely recommend it.

I use amazon.co.uk sometimes (my partner uses it much more than I do) and it seems to be as varied as the US one, and delivery has always been quick.

This all makes me happy. I haven’t been spoiling them like I want because they can’t pack a lot of toys. Once they get settled in I’ll probably go nuts.
