How do I delete an app from the list of my purchased apps in the App Store?

Over time, I’ve accumulated many apps that I really didn’t like and I’ve deleted them from my iPad. However, when I go to my “purchased apps” list in the App Store, they are still there, ready to be re-downloaded (re-installed) again if I happen to touch the “Install” button.
But they’re just cluttering up the list, and I would like to permanently delete them from the list. Is there any way to do this?

You can’t. Once it’s on your accounts list of purchases it’s there forever.
AAAAWWWWWW!!!!
OK, thanks, guys.
A friend says that if you hover over the app icon for a second, an X will appear in the upper left of the icon and then you can delete it.
@augustlan I think thats the OS they are talking about, hes talking about his purchase history.
No, he says it is from the purchased items in the app store inside iTunes. See here.
@augustlan well I’ll be darned, maybe there is a way.
So… I’m stuck away from my computer (my boiler broke and its cold so I have moved into a hotel at the insurance companies expense – it’s a nice hotel as well!!!) so I can’t check but what I think that screenshot shows is deleting apps stored locally on the computer waiting to be transferred to the device.
@Lightlyseared You don’t have a remote desktop client installed?
Install teamviewer first thing, you’ll thank me some day.
@augustlan Thanks for the tip. Seems to work only on the list of apps in one’s iTunes on a PC. However, if there is an iPad version, the App Store app will still display it, and there’s still no way to delete or hide it.
I take back what I said about @augustlan‘s trick. It actually works great! Turns out, in the app store under iTunes on the PC, there are actually 2 tabs, one for iPhone apps, and one for iPad apps. I was in the iPhone tab and deleted some apps using @augustlan‘s trick, and found that they were still listed on my iPad. What I needed to do was to go to the iPad tab and also delete the same app there. Then it’s permanently gone!
Thanks, @augustlan.
Yay! I’m so glad it all worked out for you. :)
