My hairline is like that as well – has been for awhile. I’m 23, and I never could figure out why. I just cover it up.
It certainly looks like the beginning of male-pattern baldness. Do you have other symptoms such as irregular menstruation or excess bodyhair? I would suggest a visit to your doctor to get tested to see if you have elevated testosterone, and possibly a screening for PCOS.
Do you wear your hair pulled back, or did you wear your hair pulled back and away from your face in a tight manner? It looks like it could be the start of traction alopecia. It doesn’t look that bad to me. I’m sure you are freaking out though. It seems to be in a pattern of a widow’s peak.
Hair loss is common with thyroid conditions, although usually the hair loss with that is thinning all over and very noticeable at the part.
PCOS is something to consider, but I have never seen that specific hair loss on women with PCOS. Still, if your periods are irregular @downtide is right that it could be related. I think of male pattern as the top of the head either front to back on young men, or back to front on men 50+. usually the temples stay around for a while on men.
Does anyone else in your family have the same thing? Maybe it is a genetic pattern?
Also, I think there are some skin conditions that cause hair loss, dermatologists treat that.
Ok, so that is a lot of possibilities, and I am not a doctor. I would definitely ask a doctor.
@JLeslie male pattern baldness can start at the temples; that’s where it’s starting for me, and my mum’s brothers were the same. Other guys thin out on the crown first. Whichever way it goes is dependent on genetics.
I’m with @JLeslie, see if you can get a doctor’s opinion, maybe a dermatologist specifically. It may be that the thinning is symptomatic of something else or maybe it’s just what you’ve already noticed. Either way it’s probably the best way to get a satisfying answer,
My hair was like that when I was young. I remember a beautician telling me that I was going bald. I’m 51 and it has not changed. I still have hair there but it is short.
If both your parents and grandparents seem to have a full head of hair then I doubt it is baldness.
Thyroids can make you bald but it usually doesn’t usually follow a pattern. I would just be careful with the chemicals you put in your hair, and shampoos and conditioners.
Let your hair dry naturally.
I did find there was a connection with my hair dropping quickly and hair conditioners. I can only use it maybe once a month. I think it would clog my pores and so my hair would slip out easier. I use to get zits on my scalp if I use hair conditioners for more than 2 days a month and my hair would fall everywhere all the time.
looks like alopecia areata. spots of baldness. I have seen this spot on people who rub or scratch or twist hair when nervous. Usually, they don’t even realize they are doing it. If that is not an issue then get hormone levels checked

Hello, what did you decide to do about your thinning hair. did you decide to see a doctor about your hair thinning? Also did you ever try any of the over the counter products for thinning hair?
