Do you have a favorite snickerdoodle cookies recipe?

I had (store-bought) soft snickerdoodle cookies for the first time back in December and I fell in love with them. Now I want to make some from scratch but every recipe I’ve come across asks for cream of tartar. I don’t have any handy and won’t be going to the stores any time soon. Do you have a favorite recipe that doesn’t require cream of tartar? If not, what’s a viable substitute?
