Do you have any special plans for St. Patrick's Day?

Chicago dyes its river green. Green beer is drunk by many. Are there any traditions you use to celebrate the day?

Last year my daughter put little green foot prints on her toilet and green food coloring in the toilet for her kids to find.
I am going to drink my little heart out. Which is pretty much what I do every day.
Going to my first St. Paddy’s Day party ever. With 250 people.
And my son will turn 30 on Sunday.
Green beer? Oh man, that’s gonna look funky when your liver decides to banhammer it on the double.
Also, nothing. But I might get drunk.
I’m gonna cook me up some corned beef and cabbage. Can’t decide whether to boil it, pressure cook it, or use the slow cooker. Probably the slow cooker. Man do I love corned beef and cabbage with buttered rye bread on the side.
We’ll be drinking some Jameson Irish Whiskey with my husband’s adult sons.
^^ Have one for me. I have memories of enjoying Jameson’s very much.
We are making a boiled dinner with regular and sweet potatoes, cabbage, carrots, and a nice smoked shoulder (which I like better than corned beef).
I am Irish and I used to really enjoy wearing green and celebrating St. Paddy’s Day. However, seven years ago my sister died on St. Patrick’s Day. Even though it is not the day I choose to remember her, it cast a pall over it and I don’t celebrate any more. I only started wearing green again a couple of years ago.
^^ I believe she would like you to celebrate her life on St. Patrick’s Day, not mourn her death. Be happy in memory of her, not sad. Peace.
I’ll be partying with men in kilts and plenty of mead, ale and uillian pipe and bodhran music.
RENFEST!
