How do you reward yourself?
I’ve found that I need a short break between tasks throughout the day to let my mind stop and regroup before being stretched and pushed to the limits in a different area. High school is tough on the brain.
If you do something similar, what is it? I stop between subjects or assignments and Fluther, Facebook, or watch something on the internet. Mythbusters, Psych, and Scishow on youtube are great.
I’ve considered having a project to have on my desk and come back to every so often and work on for 10 minutes here and there. Has anyone tried this? What did you do?
Some people just sit and close their eyes for a few minutes. This would drive me, personally, up a wall – I need to be actively doing something with my hands or watching something. Are you one of those people who just sits to take a break? What do you think about? Not work/school, obviously.
So, how do you reward yourself or take breaks? Do you not even do anything like this? Can you stay powered and moving forward the entire day?
P.S. This is for free: Studies have shown that the brain nearly shuts down after 50 minutes of doing the same thing non-stop. If you force yourself to keep working past that, you’ll actually start to forget everything you had learned or thought of. Take breaks!

I love Sci show on YouTube! Hank is so funny. And you’re totally right. High school is so exhausting.
I usually text while I’m doing my homework, or listen to music. Sometimes I eat then nap.
Hot baths, Fluther, nibbles…...
I read, I watch TV shows that I have taped, I fix a meal or snack.
When I was in my twenties, I stopped and had a donut and a cup of coffee. That worked really well…then.
Now, I do a little mini-walk, outside if the weather permits or simply around the house to check on my plants, my cat, and my view.
I think about what I’m going to create next in the kitchen. I plan meals, consider recipes I want to try, make lists of things I need for the pantry. It’s a good break and lets me think of something I enjoy doing.
I am a little older than you so I reward myself with a IPA (instead of the Pearl Light I regularly drink because of the calories.
Chocolate and lots of whiskey.
In my younger days I rewarded myself with sweets (nothing like a Krispy Kreme donut after a long, stressful day) but nowadays I prefer a long nightly walk followed by a leisurely soak in my hot tub.
An elephant’s hot tub must be pfretty large!
When I’m in the office, I take a coffee break. Sometimes I check on things in the plant or just go back to my desk and see what’s happening on Fluther.
I teach people how to lose money at billiards. I’m rewarded very well for that.
