Anyone know anything about venus flytraps?
I got a venus flytrap last summer and over the winter (due to the lack of feeding I was able to do) it got smaller and its leaves, mouths?, leaves won’t grow past about an inch. I don’t know how they are going to eat now. Any suggestions on feeding, boosting their growth, or just good care tips?

Look here under the feeding advice. It’s sort of cool that you can feed them freshly killed bugs. I thought they had to catch their own. It reminds me of how we used to have pet baby toads when we were little kids. We used to stun the flies with a flyswatter and tear off their wings. I know it sounds mean but these toads were only ½” long and too small to chase flies for food. We had to help them out. Eventually we would release them so they wouldn’t die. We knew we’d never be able to grow them up to be big toads.
Don’t fertliize it, it gets its nitrogen from the bugs. And don’t mess with the traps just to see them close. They don’t like that. Catch some flies and drop them in the traps, If they don’t close move the fly around with a toothpick or something like that until it closes.
And welcome to fluther.
I think the thing I find most fascinating about Venus Flytraps is where they come from. Like you look at this plant and just imagine it coming from some far off super exotic rain forest jungle like the Amazon or something like that. You generally don’t guess that they come from North Carolina
