How close is your head to a window when you sleep?

Asked by Tachys (1531points) March 19th, 2013

What’s the perfect distance? Do you change the distance seasonally?
I like a few snowflakes on my pillow sometimes…

And while you are here: what topic would you put this question under?

About 4 feet right now. In college in Wisconsin, one of my roommates insisting on having a window open. I woke up with a foot of snow on top of me once. (I was under the covers) It was pretty cool!

seven feet away. My sister’s bed is between mine and the window. Over here it’s summer all year round, and the sun shines straight on my face in the morning!

I have a tinted glass deck hatch about a meter above my head in the forward berth. I open it on starry nights. It’s ideal for me.

I love fresh air and a cold room. Our bed is placed right at a window, which we usually have partially open. I have felt rain before.

The window is about five feet from the foot of the bed. Fine by me. I leave the bathroom window open and it keeps just right.

My window is on the opposite side of the room as my pillow.

Not quite a foot. My headboard is basically against a window, but I almost never open it. Lots of other windows to keep open if I wish.

Mine is quite close, I just move my bed every few months out of boredom

I have no window in my bedroom. There is a door to the hall in the East wall, and sliding glass doors in the West wall lead to an enclosed patio. The bed is against the South wall half way between the two.

My bed is comfortably placed right next to the wall where my window is, which means it’s over my legs when I’m in bed. I usually keep it open at all times. I like the cool air in here, and I only shut the window when it’s obviously way too cold. But there’s nothing like being all snug in my blankets with a cool draft coming in, plus I love when it rains and I can hear it.

I have windows to the left of me, windows to the right, here I am, stuck in the middl…i’m being a pane aren’t I?

About 2 feet from my head. It’s usually too cold in the winter to have it open at night. We have the heat down pretty low while sleeping though. I like the bedroom to be cool, so I can snuggle up in my blankets comfortably. My partner likes it super warm so she has extra blankets on her side. Like @Symbeline, I love hearing the rain throughout the other seasons.

As for changing the bed around. Our bedroom is basically made to have the bed in only one spot. Even though it’s a large bedroom, the bed would look odd elsewhere in there.

About three feet. I never open the window, really, because it’s a basement bedroom, and the window sits directly on the ground. If I open the window, I first have to go out and clear in the snow, leaves, or dirt, a swing-path for the window to open out. It’s a hassle.

As far away as possible, probably 10–12 feet. I don’t like drafts, the rattling of the panes in wind, and the lack of distance if someone were to bust it out.

Right beside the bed at my knees. I love a cold room and when I lived in the USA, woke up covered in blown snow several times. When I lived in the tropics it was the only time I really enjoyed air conditioning. I just like sleeping under a blanket or two.
