How do I make plum wine?

My wife happened to be at the Haymarket at closing hour Saturday. One vendor selling green plums decided he didn’t want to cart the unsold fruit home. He sold off whole 20-pound (9.07 kg) boxes of plums for a buck a piece. She couldn’t resist getting one. Now to figure out how to make wine from it. And I do have a cellar to ferment it in.
Do I need a gallon demijohn or can I improvise? How much sugar do I need to add to get a reasonable alcohol content?

If you decide not to make wine, it would make a great plum chutney.
I have no idea.
But I’ll help you drink it when it’s done.
Here are the instructions for DIY green plum wine or umeshu : )
Wow, sounds like a fin project to get into. Then everytime there’s ultra-cheap fruit by the box at the Heymarket, that’s one or two more gallons of wine. Thanks, everyone.
Before you do anything else go out and find yourself high end level.
@Blondesjon A high end level? I have a perfectly good 48 inch carpenter’s level. How is that useful in making wine?
<sigh> You said you wanted to make plum wine . . .
Ha! That would be plumb, you ninny! :-)
Your pipes are leaking? Maybe you should lay off that plum wine.
plums are just some sunshine and dry air away from being a mild laxative.
@Blondesjon I’m pushing 70. That’s what I like about them. They’re just prunes that haven’t been dried yet.
