What would you get a two year old for Easter?

Asked by Adirondackwannabe (36713points) March 24th, 2013

I’m trying to think of things other than candy for my nephew. What are some good Easter gifts that aren’t all sugar? He’s a wild man and loves anything that is active. Any thoughts?

Depending on how robust its teeth are you could get it its first roast rabbit.

I got my nephew a Wind Up Peep when he was about that age.

You might get an idea if you peek inside my 3 year old granddaughter’s Easter basket. When she comes to Ganny and Papa’s house to eat Easter dinner, she will discover the Easter Bunny left her a treat at my house too. She is getting a couple of puzzles, a Lady and the Tramp DVD, Oreo cookies, a handmade blue gingham dress and a handmade doll wearing the same dress (adorable), a couple of dry erase books, Goldfish crackers, bubbles, cotton candy and hair bows.

Speaking as a parent… Not a stuffed animal. Or should I say not another stuffed animal. One day you have five, turn around and you have forty. I swear they breed.

Small snacks that aren’t candy are good. Like the goldfish @bkcunningham mentioned. Those small packs of baby carrots would be cute for Easter. A book, a coloring book, bubbles, cd of kids’ songs.

With due respect to @Supacase, how can you go wrong with a cuddly little stuffed bunny???

@Pachyderm_In_The_Room they do seem to be the perfect gift, but kids end up with so many. It gets out of control. Then again, I do have a problem with guilt… Others can probably thin out the herd without wondering if Nana’s or Aunt Debbie’s feelings will get hurt.

@Supacase We bought a Filburn for my nephew when we got to meet him for the first time. He loves it and refuses to give it up for any other toy. He has a fit if they try to substitute any other stuffed animal.

My first thought was a fluffy bunny but other than that, what about some books about rabbits (Peter Rabbit!) or fluffy ducklings. You can spend time reading them to him which is always fun. Or finger puppet rabbits or a hand puppet?

@Bellatrix Excellent! We already have him hooked on books. :)

How about a flowerpot with a just-germinated tomato plant?

How about Monster Bowling? It looks like fun to me!

@Adirondackwannabe, if he is hooked on books he might love Disney movies or coloring books. Just my 2 cents! :)
