If I were to create a minimalistic version of Dwarf Fortress on my calculator, what features would I include?

For those of you who don’t know, Slaves to Armok: God of Blood Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress is a computer game in which the user micro-manages an entire civilization. It is well known for its extremely deep gameplay. (relevant comic)

Basically, I had an idea that I should simplify the game and program it onto my TI-84+ calculator. This would mostly be for fun, for the challenge, and for some “awesome points” within my social group, so nothing serious.

This question is pretty much “what are your ideas?” I’m open to all suggestions.

I was thinking that I could reduce the number of skills to four or five, maybe “mining,” “farming,” “crafting,” and “hunting.” The skill levels would simply be “No” or “Yes.”

There would be dirt, stone, a single type of metal, one type of tree and one other plant, and maybe a single type of monster. How simple could I make it? I realize that I will have to cut out almost all of the game’s features, but the only thing I am really interested in is maintaining the theme.
