Knowing American Dad, it might have been their favorite song, “El Perro” by “Cilantro” (all ficticious I believe).... but that’s just a guess based on context.

Well, upon checking the clip you mentioned, it’s just an instrumental violin piece. No idea, but sounds like it could be a nod to another war movie

Nevermind, I think I found it: It’s called Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber

Oh, interesting. Apparently, using that piece is a nod to the film Platoon. Maybe that’s why you recognized it?
