E.g. a five inch long surgical scar on the chest?

A plastic surgeon would have to look at it but they do scar revision all the time.

I’m sorry you feel so uncomfortable with that scar. It can be costly to remove. Are you sure you can’t adapt to it. There’s no shame in being distinctive.

Before you have work done on it, ask your doctor about keloids. Some people get scars that become keloids; others don’t. It may not be possible to avoid a keloid if you tend to get them. Ask.

Have you tried Mederma or other scar lighteners?

Yes I’m sure. It’s not a matter of adapting to it because I’ve had it forever so I am adapted to it. I simply don’t like it and want it off of me. It is a source of stress. I will be healthier with it gone. I don’t care how much it cost, I just want to know whether it’s possible. Mederma wont work because the flesh is too thick and rubbery because of all the excess collagen that built up between the cells. I have heard at this point the only thing I could do would be to get some kind of cortisone or other steroid injections but I wanted to ask real people instead of looking at wiki or google links.
