General Question
I need a good phrase to go with the acronym VPCA.
I teach 2nd and 3rd grade. I am about to introduce a problem-solving rubric to my students which gives them a score on 4 components of problem solving, which they do in their math journals. The components are Vocabulary, Picture, Calculation, and Answer. I thought it would be fun to have a phrase to help them remember these 4 parts: VCPA. It must be student friendly and easy to remember. It doesn’t have to make “sense” necessarily. For instance, to remember the steps of long division, the third graders use the phrase Dracula’s Mother Sucks Chicken Blood. (Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Check, Bring down.) They love it. Thanks for any suggestions!
