How often do you write up a question with all its details only to discover it's recently been asked?

Not too long ago, I wrote up a doozy of a question. I spent serious time fleshing out the question details, and adding useful links as citations.
Then it occurred to me it may have already been asked. Indeed, it had been, and not even long ago. I berated myself for not searching before writing up the question details. How faithful are you at searching before devoting time to writing up a question?

Never. My questions are rather few and far between and usually offbeat enough to be fairly in a league of their own. Like ” Was my house just struck by lightening” and ” Help, I have maggots in my trash can.”
Remember, I killed them with a toxic cocktail of scrubbing bubbles and acetone soaked paper towels. lol
It happens to me, and many times I discover I wrote the other question. :-/
I usually check quickly first, particularly if it’s a General question.
I always do a search to see if it had been asked before. Many times, I find that it had been asked before by me!
Me too, I have almost asked the same question twice. Contrariwise sometimes I find an old answer of mine that is quite different to how I would now reply.
After making that mistake once or twice, I’ve learned to check first. Often there is no answer that specifically covers my issue so I refine my question to highlight the specific point for which I am seeking an answer.
Once or twice.
It’s more often that I spend a good deal of time typing up a lengthy question just to realize it’ll probably start more arguments than I’m willing to put up with, so I scrap it.
Doesn’t happen.
When I ask a question that’s been asked – they disappear.
@zenzen Sounds like you are saying it happens, then unhappens.
@zenzen Yeah. Techno, tries hard to be interesting for more than 6 minutes. Fails.
No, really—are you? If so, no ill will meant. Just stating my opinion.
OK – I’m really Fluck Chorris.
I usually check first, but even if I find a similar question from a year or longer back, I’ll post mine, in hopes of getting answers from newer jellies and also from jellies who may have answered the previous question but have a new answer.
