Has anyone here used Soft Paws on their cat(s)? Thoughts?

I’m thinking about getting them for my big guy. Did they bother your cat at all? How long did they last? Were they difficult to get on your cat’s nails?

We tried them on a cat who was scratching herself raw. For her, we only needed to do the rear paws.

I really liked the concept, but it didn’t work for us. Putting them on was not easy; we would get her really mellow, then do a couple of claws before she’d say “Enough of this shit” and go all Kim Jong Un on us. Once done, they bothered her enough that she chewed them off within a couple of days.

I took mine to a Petsmart store where they had groomers in store and it was a very reasonable price, not that much above the cost of the nail tips alone.

It really depends upon the cat’s temperament as to whether they chew them off. But they usually last about 4–6 weeks because as the nails continue to grow, they will wear off naturally.

They also come in pretty colors as well as clear.. They don’t hurt the cat at all but some cats just don’t like having them on.hence the chewing. Your boy looks pretty laid back and easygoing so its worth a try.

I only did the front paws since they don’t scratch furniture with the back ones.

But nowadays I just trim her claws regularly.

Personally, the difficulty in wrestling the Soft Paws on any cat (even an incurable couch potato like whatshisname), is not worth it. Simpler to cut the tips off the front claws from time to time, particularly since there are two of you and you can team-tag Blue. (And much less humiliating.)

I have two cats that do well with them (they stay on for an average of 6 weeks) and one cat that immediately sits down and pulls them all off. Luckily, the one that removes them is not a furry-furniture-destroyer.

I love them.

^ Soft Paws, that is. I love my cats, too. Ack, never mind.
