This is Rick, and yes I had BIG Kitties. I came across Bear, my cougar at an auction, believe it or not, and he was the best thing that ever happened to me, ( besides my wife, Disclaimer), and found that cougars were a very time consuming habit. I loved him, and found more Big Kitties that were abused, so therefore I had several Big Kitties. I was amazed at the lessons that I learned about them, and that changed my thinking about someone owning a beautiful animal like Bear. It wasn’t fair to the Big Kitty. I had the permits, and jumped through all the hoops to keep him, but still felt guilty. I had the opportunity to own a Bengal tiger, (Tika) and she was awesome. She slept with me and was, at the time, my best friend. She made photo shoots for a sun tanning bed company, and that was an adventure! When I had to move, I contacted a friend in Rogers Arkansas, and told him that I needed a place for my family. He said to contact a person there and he would be able to help me. I did, and took my Big Kitties to Arkansas. They were awesome, and I left them there. They housed unwanted, and abused animals. To me they were a Godsend. I also donated my time for quite a while, to help clean cages, and feed the animals, as well as care for them. I learned a lot having my animals, but most of all they are NOT a play toy!!! They deserve more than being put on display, and I hate it that you could at that time buy one for a little of nothing. These animals were my best friends, but in reality, I couldn’t give them their dignity, and respect. I have the utmost respect for the animal kingdom, and they belong in the wild, NOT in the hands of idiots! As for the lion, (LEO), what a name! He was a handful. He loved to be with me and pester me. I would go outside, and Leo was always behind me. He loved to wrestle, so we would play hide and seek and he would attack me, and the games would begin. I loved my experience with these awesome animals, but the time they needed was more than had to give, but wouldn’t give up one minute that I had with them. I became obsessed with the idea that I could find, and save all the exotic cats, and do my part. Sorry to say, but there are still auctions, and sales networks, that advertise these BEAUTIFUL animals. I was a fortunate person that got to know Tika, Bear, Leo, and June, and learned a lot about nature at it’s best, but no one should be able to OWN one of gods creatures of beauty!!! :D I have more pictures I can share if you’d like.
