Anyone else addicted to Hannibal?
I find the show Hannibal on NBC incredibly engrossing and ridiculously well done. I was just wondering what other people thought of the show.

Do you mean the BBC movie with Alexander Siddig?
I watched two episodes and decided to watch it no more. I hate the ulta-violent Imagery. Call me a grump, but this kind of ugly violence is, at the least, unnecessary viewing, and at the most, dangerous viewing for young, impressionable minds or disturbed ones.
@Pachyderm_In_The_Room I hope you realize that the show is less about the killing and more about what is causing Will Graham to lose his mind bit by bit. Yes it gets graphic, but it is part of the narrative and makes you wonder more and more about Will and how Hannibal is influencing him.
Yep, I get that, and I’m not criticizing you for enjoying it. The production value and acting are excellent. I’ll also admit that I’ve enjoyed other similar series in the past (example: the short-lived British series Jeckyll, the violence of which was mostly understated and sometimes humorous). Guess I’m just sick of all the violence in the news and don’t want to watch more of it when I’m home relaxing, regardless of how beautifully it’s filmed.
I do know what it’s like to get hooked on a series, so enjoy!
I am a huge fan of serial killer shows and movies, but I really don’t find the appeal in this one. I used to be obsessed with The Silence of the Lambs and the rest of the movies in the Hannibal series, but I find the show to be really lackluster. I share the same sentiment when it comes to any of the Hannibal movies or renditions without Anthony Hopkins, though. Maybe I just can’t get over the fact that Anthony Hopkins will always be the true Hannibal Lecter and anyone who tries to take on the role just doesn’t do it justice.
@mambo, I too loved Silence of the Lambs, both the book and movie. I think it was my first exposure to a fictional serial killer and certainly my first cannibal. I saw all the sequels but wound up burned out and turned off to the genre, which, besides the reason I gave in my previous reply, is why I don’t watch Hannibal: the TV series.
I have never seen Silence of the Lambs (I know, right?), but I am a huge fan of Bryan Fuller’s work so that’s what drove me to the show. I am sucked into the story, but find that I have to look away during the more graphic scenes as they make my stomach churn.
Late on the bandwagon, but likely to watch season two when it rolls around.
