Would you do business with a "company" like this?
I gotta get ahold of computer vet. Don’t like the guy in the next town, and I REALLY don’t like the one guy locally even though he’s the most famous one in town, so I was looking through the yellow pages. Found another computer place I didn’t know we had here in town. Called the number. After 5 rings an older lady answers the phone “Mmmhallo?” I just said, “I must have the wrong number,” and hung up.
Would you do business with someone who has their mother answer the phone like it’s her home, and doesn’t give any indication that it’s a computer place? I don’t know the situation…maybe it IS her home and he works out of there, and that’s fine. I just don’t want to spend my money on someone apparently so unprofessional.

Do you even know if that company is still running?
Why are you using the Yellow Pages? We have the Internet.
Where do you live? I’ll find you every 15 year old with a soldering iron within a 10 mile radius.
I don’t have internet, @Seek_Kolinahr. I’ve been hit with Malware and for whatever reason, Fluther is the only site I can access. I don’t want a 15 year old with a soldering iron! Shoot, I have that upstairs. It’s called my husband.
If you PM me a city, I’ll do a search for you. I think a girl in my office even has an Angie’s List account.
Why not try calling your phone company. They should be able to forward you to a local computer shop.
Most of the local computer repair shops are going to be a mom n’ pop organization. The best one I know of near me is a father / son operation (both named Charlie). I wouldn’t give it a second thought.
@CWOTUS, Oh, I understand that but even so, they spent all the money to take ad ad out in the yellow pages, they should take the time to announce their business if that phone rings.
For all you know, the cleaning lady might have answered the phone because of the amazing volume of work heaped on this hugely successful small firm that is just brimming with capability and totally full up with hot work that they can’t possibly drop right now.
Yeah, I doubt it, too. But all small businesses go through a learning curve of varying degrees of professionalism and polish. And what the hell, they’re in Kansas, right? I’d give them a break and a half.
