Does your school district make publicly available the salaries of its teachers?

Asked by LostInParadise (32183points) May 1st, 2013

I was a bit surprised to learn that a neighboring school district publishes its teacher salaries online I could not get the Fluther script to point to the Web site, but you can find it at http://www.pennsbury.k12.pa.us/pennsbury/Human Resources/_zumu_sidebar/Employee Salary and Benefit Information/. The school district is among the wealthiest in the state, as you can tell from the numbers. If I were a teacher, I would not be comfortable having my salary available for public scrutiny, even if the salary is strictly determined by years of experience and college degree. I did a search for my school district and could not find this information.

My district does not publish them, but you can go into the office and see them. By law they are a matter of public record in this state, so they have to be available for anyone to see.

In Germany, the best country in the universe, even discussing your salary with coworkers is grounds for immediate termination.

I think it’s odd how sensitive people are about this information. No, I wouldn’t mind if my salary was public information and yes, all public school employee salaries in my area are publicly available.

All public employees’ salaries are public information, at least where I live. I posted a question on here about two months ago about my child’s kindergarten teacher’s salary, which is about 127,000 annually. I, also am a public employee, although I’m not a teacher, and my salary is public and can be found on websites linked to the local newspapers. To me, it’s part of being a civil servant.

I spend as little time as possible on the head. One of the most common causes of hemorrhoids is sitting on the toilet for extended periods. Not a good idea.

Yep. Sorry.

“Ahem… This has been an arbitrary Public Safety Anouncement by your neighborhood Fluthernurse.”

Another common cause is having BABIES @Espiritus_Corvus. Man, it’s bad. You’ve got this newborn that you’re up and down with and hemorrhoids to boot!
