Wow that was amazing. You are more than welcome @Seek_Kolinahr . Thank you. That really touched me. And I love the painting.
Aww. That was sweet. We love you too.
Gosh. How beautiful you are, inside and out. Thank you. We DO love you too and I love your painting. :-) It’s bedtime here but I’m going off to the land of nod with a big smile on my face. Have a wonderful Friday @Seek_Kolinahr.
I Lurve the painting!!
I’ve made the closest friends over the web, and met my best friend – my fiancĂ© – on a social site. Interwebz friends can definitely be true friends.
Hooray for Jellies!
(((((@Seek_Kolinahr)))) You are more than welcome. You made my day and I hope you know I am here if you ever need me. Sincerely. BK
Wow, that was so amazing. I always look forward to your answers :)
You’re awesome, even though you didn’t mention my name. :)
Your gift to us reminds me that even though we might not know it, we affect people every day. Simply existing is a chance to change the world. I’m happy you have found joy.
What a sweetheart you are. That made my day. Thank you for reminding me of the power we have to touch other people’s lives by being present with them.
And I’m with @ucme… You and your voice are gorgeous ;) Ahem…
And your jelly painting turned out very nice! You should put that on your profile.
Some of the most important people in my life have been friends from the internet. There’s no telling where you’re going to find kindred spirits. I’m so glad to have found this community myself.
Love ya, @Seek_Kolinahr.
I think you said it in awesome fashion. It took guts to make that video. I admire your courage, and your artistic abilities.
I’m just pulling myself out of a bleak stretch here, so I can really relate to facing those dark hours before the dawn, thinking this too shall pass. Love and hugs and to that wonderful thank-you, you are very welcome.
That really was sweet and you’re so BEAUTIFUL!!! :)
Your painting is awesome; your thank-you video was genuine and heartfelt. I’m so glad you’re feeling better!
(((BEARHUG)))
You’re an absolute sweetheart and I am gladdened by the support system you have found through Fluther. Your presence and absence has always been felt by me even though I am not the most vocal jelly and I wish you the best. Here’s a smile for you :)
Wow. That was so awesome. It was brave, IMO, too. Really brave. I was touched. It was sad to see you crying though. :( I just wanted to sit down and hug you.
I really like your pictures, too. :)
Beautiful, moving and courageous in so many ways. Thank you :)
That video is beautiful, your painting is beautiful and you are beautiful, in every way. (((@Seek_Kolinahr)))
I think we should make her painting Fluther’s home page!
Awww…you are so sweet and beautiful and I will gladly be your surrogate mama.
I agree, Fluther is a great place to share, even though I am rather quiet about my current ups & downs, it is a haven to flee to when I need a distraction from all of my recent crazy changes. You are such a darling Allison! We love you too! :-D
* * * Y * A * Y * * * CONGRATULATIONS ! ! ! GOOD WORK ! ! ! * * * Y * A * Y * * *
Thank you.
Great painting. Your message is genuinely moving, and a great model of sincere expression of appreciation and love that many of us (ok, me) struggle with – even with people who are in the same room with us. Thank you.
How sweet!
And your painting is really good.
I just showed the wife this vid & she passes on her good wishes to you Alyson.
Disturbingly however, she agrees with the goofball motif…sheesh :D
@Seek_Kolinahr That was not only a creative, but very touching way to relate your feelings. For those of us who read your posts, we have a gist of the mindset that you are experiencing.
It is odd that people,. especially in this internet age, cannot understand that a positive support system can come from people that we have never met. Obviously, they have never had that bond.
I hope that by putting the effort into the painting and video that this means you are on the mend. As far as this community goes, just know that you are appreciated.
Alison – I was so touched by your video but it made me worry about you too, especially in the context of a recent question of yours. If anyone else was worried that you might be inclined to harm yourself or if you have been dealing with thoughts of suicide, please reach out for help. We value you and no one here whats to lose you.
A very touching tribute to the power of an on-line community and how it can affect a person’s life.
I don’t understand your video, but I’ll take everyone else’s word for it and send you a hug too! Hug tackle Seek!
You are a doll and one of the sweetest, most sensitive, humble and refreshing souls around!
The painting is great too.
Okay, I am legit crying. That was beautiful, and so are you. <3 <3 <3
You’re drunk, @Seek_Kolinahr; go home.~
I should be so drunk. Just look at that ratio of GQ to Responses. Someone needs to do a study to see if that’s the highest ratio ever. Where the hell is johnpowell when we really need him?
Great Question doesn’t quite do it justice somehow, Great Sentiment…now that’s right on the money, feel the empathy flow.
Like some one said, on line friendships can be powerful and if you’ve never experienced it, it’s hard to understand. When I was with Wis.dm my husband just could NOT understand how I could come to him talking about the users like they were real people. Well, I probably wouldn’t have understood either, if I hadn’t experienced it.
Love ya @Seek_Kolinahr. And thank you for not saying “Dutchess” and “Bitch” in the same sentence! I was kinda waiting for that! Heh!
CAN we make her pic Fluther’s home page?
@CWOTUS What you don’t know is that there was a Bourbon and Diet Coke just to the right of that webcam. ^_^
I adore you all. And I’m glad you like the painting. It’s no Monet, but it was made with love—and emotional turmoil – but mostly love.
How are you feeling today?
If I lived closer, I’d watch your boy for you (if you needed a night out). I am great with kidlets.
^_^ Thanks. Now would one of you just move in?
We’re calling everyone we know in a 30 mile radius trying to find someone to take him so I can go to this concert. Damn sister in law flaking at the last minute. All I want is to put on a corset and headbang for a few hours. Is that too much to ask?
HA, someday sista!! My husband and I will hopefully end up in Largo, Fl outside Pensacola in a decade or so, where my aunt and uncle live. I hate being cold, can you believe it’s snowing here today while the grass is green & lilacs are blooming?! It’s horrible.
Largo isn’t far from me, here in Central FL. Pensacola is in the panhandle.
Yeah, I have a friend in Minnesota who is going crazy looking for spring to show up.
@Seek_Kolinahr That is cool, we may go visit later this year and hang out, I’ll have to message you if so!! I’d love to hear your hubby play, too, I’m pretty into music!!
So… the hubs’ band plays at the concert venue a lot. We’re pretty much furniture there.
Can’t find a babysitter, so hubby called the club’s owner.
Yeah, we’re bringing him with us. Party with the Little Man.
Not ideal, but still hella fun.
You have said it and very touchingly and movingly too. Have a great night. PS I love the painting. It is calm and mysterious.
don’t want to be jealous of your beauty but…I am.
What a very special and nice gesture. We love you too.
A big mom hug from me to you my dear.
That was so sweet and you are so lovely. And, an artist. You have so much going for you! Hugs.
Very nice. You’re a peach and a wonderful person. Thank you.
And, I’d be happy to buy a print of that painting. It’s very cool.
Wow! That was amazing @Seek_Kolinahr . From this day forth, I’m going to look at Fluther in a different way. Except for a couple of brief voice excerpts, from a Q that Jude posted a few years ago, regarding accents, I’ve never heard anyone’s voice or actually seen them, save for a few avatar pictures. Today, you made Fluther come alive!
I absolutely loved the painting of the Jellyfish, you really have talent and I hope you continue to pursue that talent, not only for the joy it will give you and others, but because it seems to be a potential tonic for your depression. I know it lifted my spirits : )
You have given us, today, an amazing gift. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
P.S. You are beautiful (Dr. Crusher would envy your hair, hee hee).
I got to talk to ET Pro on the phone the other day! It was VERY cool. ;)
Got to go to the concert. – Hubs came through at the last minute and we didn’t have to take E after all.
I needed that night.
Fifth time I’ve seen Opeth live, and they FINALLY played my favourite of their acoustic songs. And Katatonia played my favourite of their songs as well! All in all an amazing show. It was nice to be able to let go, have a G&T or two, and ride the energies of the crowd and the music for a night. Probably doesn’t seem like much, but I don’t get out very often without having my son with me. Sometimes one just needs to not worry about everyone else for once.
I’m babbling again.
Anyway, got a kickass new t-shirt. Yay.
Splendid, Seek! I’m so glad to hear that you got to have a fun night and recharge a bit.
I’m looking forward myself to a well-deserved night of dancing at a concert pretty soon.
I’m a bit slow… I didn’t see this until tonight. Doll, you are one of the most genuine people I have ever met, online or otherwise. I really do consider us friends. That painting is great. I was so glad that you got to go to the concert. You are so young and should get a chance to do those things and I certainly know how important having a handy child minder is. When I’m online, you are not alone.
@cazzie We had an office Powerball pool this weekend. The whole time leading up to the drawing (which we lost gloriously), I kept thinking “When I win this, @cazzie and I are moving to New Zealand.”
I heard that it was sold in a supermarket in your state and I was a little excited.
Yeah, my husband told me where it was purchased with a tone that I think he was trying to blame me for not having had bought our ticket in Zephyrhills. LOL. I did buy one, we live less than an hour away. I still need to check my ticket.
I always laugh that so many people buy tickets when the jackpot gets up above $75million. Like $6million isn’t enough to play for. Or, whatever the minimum jackpot is.
Well, if I’m going to play every time, I might as well stick $5 a week in a jar – at least then I have something. I can afford $5 a couple of times year for a chance to win 50 million.
I’m actually pretty annoyed it is $2 now per ticket.
Agreed. They need to double the jackpot if they’re doubling the cost to play.
Actually, the girls at work and I are talking about taking payday nights as Happy Hour and hitting the Hard Rock casino. $20 limit. Once you’ve spent your $20, you’re done. See what we can win.
We don’t have anything like a casino here. There are these stupid pokie machines that sit at some grocery stores or convenience stores and there may be a few in some of the pubs in town (not sure…. I go so seldom and it isn’t something I think I would even notice…) I couldn’t even buy a bottle of wine on Saturday for my long, lonely 4 day weekend alone because the wine and spirit stores were all closed because of Pentecost. (is that what Pinse is called in Engish.. not sure..) But we do have lottery tickets and power ball things and scratch tickets. I never buy them. Did I mention I was alone again for another 4 day weekend? Just me and the kid and gardening.
@cazzie If we were on the same continent, neither of us would ever have a lonely weekend.
@Seek_Kolinahr I would prefer they keep it a dollar and half the jackpot.
$2 a ticket and you’re complaining??? We pay by the number of boxes we fill in and when the game is run. I don’t know what the difference is but there seem to be quite a few different companies. This is the powerball prices.
I always thought it was one company. Different draws are or are not available in all states. There’s a draw on a Saturday (Gold Lotto I think), one on Monday and Wednesday (but I don’t they’re available in Qld), One on Tuesday, that is available in Qld and one on Thursday that is available in Queensland.
It was a dollar, they raised it to $2 about a year ago I think, and yes I am complaining. A 100% increase? That’s ridiculous. Plus, giving away $300 million? I mean really, if $1 ticket meant they would have only given away $150 million isn’t it enough? People buy those tickets who can’t really affordt them n a chance, our powerball is run by the state, individual states, not federal. The state lotteries help fund education. Several states still don’t have lottery basically for religious/blue law reasons.
Are lotteries aren’t run by the federal government @JLeslie but my point was, look at the cost of ours. $2 is much less than some tickets here and yes, people still play. If they’ve doubled the payout in your lottery, I would imagine they feel that justifies their doubling of the cost. Whether such lotteries are a good idea from a social perspective is a whole different discussion.
@Bellatrix Yes, I did see the cost on your link, and it seems outrageous. The pay out goes up and up until someone wins, and then it resets back to a lower number. I never looked over the math regarding how they calculate it.
We have private lotteries, like I can buy a $50 ticket with the Porsche club to win a car and money. Actually, raffle is the more appropriate term for the car.
I really shouldn’t write or edit on the run. I changed the first sentence. Our not are. Agggh!
Yes we have private lotteries too. I think some of the ones I mentioned are state owned but others are private. They are heavily regulated and I believe a percentage of any ticket costs do go to the state governments and are used to fund public health and things like that. I’m not sure what percentage it would be though. I had a quick look but I couldn’t find the info which is interesting in itself.
