Was there ever a pop music recording of "Do not go gentle into that good night"?

Asked by LostInParadise (32183points) May 3rd, 2013

I have a distinct memory of hearing those words from Dylan Thomas’ poem sung on the radio. It might not have been the entire poem. As I recall it, the line “Do not go gentle into that good night” was immediately followed by “Rage, rage against the dying of the light.” I was sure that it was done by Bob Dylan, but I did a Web search and could come across no such recording. Too bad. Bob Dylan’s voice would have been a perfect vehicle for that poem by his namesake. The only thing that I could find was a recording of the poem by John Cale. Is that what I heard? Please tell me I am not being completely delusional.

I vaguely remember that. I’m finding one version by John Cale but I can’t find anything other than the lyrics so far.

This is going to sound weird, but I remember Frankie Goes to Hollywood had a song Rage Hard & i’m sure those words appear in the lyrics somewhere…worth a try I s’pose.

I know nothing about a song like that, but it would indeed be amazing. It is a wonderful poem and it would really suit Bob Dylan well. Let me know if you figure it out. :-)

@ucme, These are the lyrics to Rage Hard. There is a definite similarity, but not what I remember hearing.
