Are you comfortable with individual organizations and governments trying to contact aliens?
Is this really a good idea in your opinion? Shouldn’t we be discussing this? Am I the only one concerned this could be annoying or suicidal?
It is not like they are spending a lot of time talking to each other or us. Doesn’t this feel ominous to anyone else?

Nah. I don’t expect them to be successful, though, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t worry me. :p
I think keeping an eye out is a great thing.
It is arrogant and unrealistic for us to assume we are the supreme beings in the universe. I truly hope we discover life on other planets in my lifetime. How great would that be!!!?
Indeed, it’s good to keep an eye out. I mean, seriously who knows what’s out there? Always good to be aware, if possible. Although if this whole approach is based off of what movies and fiction show, it would indeed frighten me that the government would approach such things this way. At the very least I’d hope were ruled by people who somewhat know what they’re doing. Although if anything like this does go on, I’m guessing it doesn’t go any further than observation and sending out satellites.
And out of nowhere, this reminds me of those those mysterious humming sky sounds. Also, take me to your dealer.
Hi,
Interesting question. Really want to see what answers we get for this question.
I’m in favor of it – it’s worth the investment.
Logic tells me that there must be some other forms of intelligent life out there. It doesn’t make sense that in the whole universe, Earth is the only planet that has civilization.
So, since we are an intelligent and curious race on earth, it only makes sense to see what else is out there.
And the amounts being spent to explore are a pittance – we should be spending more and looking harder. How can it hurt?
Unles you’re referring to SETI which only tried to find and reach other signals, no. Trying to find an actual alien portrayed in the media is a waste of time.
I had a co worker that was a ghost hunter and even wrote books on the topic. He probably could have spent his time doing something more productive.
Maybe I phrased this poorly.
I think SETI is a great idea. Wonderful to listen. But the universe is huge and we have not heard anything. I am starting to suspect something very scary is out there, and all the smart races are being very quiet so as not to attract attention.
Should we be doing these occasional broadcasts we do to welcome aliens?
