yeah i can read the question, i just don’t get it, a cheat site ? like entering a code so you can unlock it ? and moving down, the next homepage, what, like something else than http://www.apple.com ?

So you can find out before it is released as the homepage

page layouts usually aren’t leaked

but how would that be a cheat ? (my question)

SO it comes out before people can see it on Apple!

I think the question was supposed to be: Is there a way to find out any new domains acquired by Apple, before the name is announced (like http://me.com).

The answer is, no. There’s no obvious way of finding out. More often than not the rumour sites get the names of upcoming products wrong, so it’s very hard to figure out what the related domain would be, when you don’t even know what the product in question is or is called.

Work in the media department at Apple.

yeah, that’s an idea for swimmerdude, working at apple, he seems to know quite a lot about it, seeing his profile :)

That’s kind of endearing, isn’t it?

Actually, yeah, there are ways to find out what domains Apple is using. For instance, a few days before the “me.com” announcement, the name server for “me.com” changed and Apple was listed as the DNS admin. That’s pretty good information, though it doesn’t let you know what Apple’s going to do with the domain.

The rumor sites (e.g. http://macrumors.com) sometimes have accurate information, but they tend not to discriminate enough between what there’s evidence for, what’s likely, and what’s just rumors.

True, but I took swimmindude’s question to mean the home page at http://apple.com – how they swap out their large promo feature image every so often.

I heard about sites where you can “bet” on what apple is going to announce. I have a feeling it has something to do with that?

iwamoto's avatar

i think this question is just a waste…

I also think he might have meant that he want’s to know the file of the homepage, so when apple switches homepages from f34jof3oj.php to index.php or what have you he can see it before hand :/

Use your imagination.

Being that Apples stock shares change with even the slightest change in info from Apple, it’s not likley you can find what you are looking for.

bluemukaki's avatar

no, because to find it you would have to know exactly what the name of the file was, if it was even being served at all, and its not the sort of thing you can find unless you have a few weeks and a lot of trial and error guesses at filenames…

iwamoto's avatar

yeah i guess apple won’t even put it on the server, why should they ?

AlexChoi's avatar

I think a lot of the confusion comes from “apple homepage” ... as he referring to apple.com? or what?

Just wait for the freakin’ thing to come.

@swimmingdude, for someone who apparently knows LOTS AND LOTS ABOUT COMPUTERS ESPECIALY APPLE (quoted from profile), you sure ask some dumb questions about them, just check out his question history

@waterskier: That’s just bluff I think… :)
