Do you know this weird Beatles song?
Long story short, I was in charge of the music library for the radio station at my college, and before we revamped the entire station and gave everything a facelift, the previous music directors had some. . .well. . .eccentric music (AKA a 15 minutes long track of someone banging on random piano keys). So I cleaned it up and whatknot, but there was still this one song people were like “WTF?” about and apparently it’s a Beatles song. But a really, really, really, really weird Beatles song. Like they must have been high. I can’t recall the lyrics, but it was the same verse over and over and over. I think it was “Don’t be long now” or something like that, and I never could find it, probably because I misheard the lyrics.

So, it’s weird, it’s the Beatles, and you have no idea what the words are.
Here’s a List of Songs by the Beatles
This is the band that brought you Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Yellow Submarine, and Paperback Writer.
They were high. Often. It was the 60s.
I’m trying to look by song length, but I’m 99% sure they never had a song longer than eight or nine minutes.
That weird Beatles song where they must have been high… You’re kidding…right?
Was it Revolution Number 9 or another such strange track from the end of the White Album perhaps?
Here is the song It Won’t Be Long but it’s not one of their druggie sons, but its repetitive and sounds like “don’t be long”
I had no answer for “Least Favorite Beatles Song”—but now I do. What an annoying song.
”...Number nine… Number nine… Number nine… Number- [SCRAAATCH!!] -umber nine… Number nine…” (”Paul is dead… Paul is dead… Paul is dead… Paul is [!!HCTAAARCS] _-aul is dead… Paul is dead… ”)
Sounds like Blue Jay Way.
@Mariah YES THAT’S IT! Blue Jay Way. That’s the one! I looked up the lyrics and it was “Please don’t be long” that they kept repeating. Thanks.
“For I may be a-slee-eep!”
There’s a Fog upon L.AAAAAAAA.
And my friends have lost their waaaay.
We’ll be over soon they saaaaaaaaaaaaid
Now they’ve lost themselves insteeeeeeeeead!
How can you not like that!!!
Bonus information:
Typically on most Beatle albums, Lennon and McCartney allowed George Harrison to contribute and sing one song. ‘Blue Jay Way’ was George’s effort on the ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ album in 1967.
.
Blue Jay Way is not what I would consider to be a weird song. It’s one of my favorite Beatles songs and is in no way obscure, it appears on one of their most famous albums, Magical Mystery Tour. How old, or should I ask how young are you??? Even my 20-something nephew knows that song.
You may or may not know that Blue Jay Way is an actual street (I’ve been there) in the Hollywood Hills. George Harrison was staying there (rather than in a hotel, where he would have been mobbed) while The Beatles were in L.A. in 1967, that is what the song is about. You can read about that Here. Derek Taylor, the fellow George Harrison was waiting for at the house on Blue Jay Way, was a friend and press agent to The Beatles. You can read more about Derek Taylor Here
You can see Blue Jay Way on this Map It’s not far off of Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. Every self respecting Beatles fan within a 100 mile radius has probably been there.
Now if anyone has a copy of Benedict Cumberbatch singing Blue Jay Way, now that would be obscure!
@Yetanotheruser Nice, originally I wanted to link an acapella black metal rendition of Joulupukki puree ja lyö (I think that means Santa Claus bites and beats) but it was region locked. My weirdness meter is probably set pretty high…I like it weird.
I am glad you found your song.
If you liked that, you may like this unreleased track.
