What are some girl empowering songs [or any other song suggestions]?
I’m making the End of Year/Season video for my all-star cheerleading team, and I need some good song suggestions to play during the slideshow. Since we’re an all girl team I was thinking some girl empowering songs like “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyonce or “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. But other reccomendations would be okay too. And also, even though this doesn’t have much to do with the question asked, if you have any tips on making a good slideshow/presentation I’d greatly appreciate those too.

We Got The Beat by the Go-Go’s.
You Don’t Own Me by Joan Jett (it’s a cover version)
Destinys Child “Independent Women”
Beyonce “Irreplaceable”
If the slideshow is made up of photos of the team members throughout the year, then this is a great idea. Putting it to music is even better. Two suggestions based upon past experience in doing this
1.) Include labels on each photo/video scene of who is in it, the date, the occurrence, etc.
2.) If it’s a video, include the names of the full cast and credits at the end, just like in a movie.
3.) If possible, include a series of bloopers as the final bit.
4.) Copy it to a disk or thumb-drive to give to each member at the end of the event.
5.) One final thought…be wary of song copy rights. The likelihood of being caught is minimal, but is something to keep in mind and worth investigating.
As for music, please don’t limit it to “girl” empowering songs. IMO, it only encourages that type of mindset. Plus, what if there was a male on the team? Personally, I’d look for songs that are non-gender specific.
Here is a list of 30 Inspirational Songs That Keep You Motivated for Life. While it is clear that some of them won’t fit your purpose, there are a few that might.
(Crap. I just realized my links didn’t go to the videos because I was on my iphone. )
Sisters are doing it for themselves: Eurythmics/Aretha Franklin
