Can anyone tell me what this tree and these bushes are called?
Hi, I have a tree that’s blooming right now. It is noteworthy for its large, heart-shaped leaves. Here is a photo. Anyone know what kind it is?
I also have two flowering bushes that I want to identify. This is the first. Here is the second, which is notable because the blossoms look like dogwood blooms. Any ideas?

Flowering bush 2 looks looks like a blackberry bush.
@bkcunningham No, it’s not a blackberry. The flower is too large. It looks like a small dogwood blossom. Also, there are no thorns and the leaves look different than blackberries, which are really vices.
@ccrow Catalpa! Thanks. The two bushes are different. Have very different flowers.
Regarding your tree, from what I could make out in the photo and using this site I was able to come up with some possibilities, including the Bigleaf Magnolia and Fraser Magnolia.
EDIT: I agree that it more closely resembles the catalpa, which was one of my first thoughts. Maybe I missed some of the responses that would have gotten to that.
But I had to guess at some of the responses to the checklist, and infer some things that weren’t obvious.
If one of them is a mock orange, it will have a distinct orangey smell while it is flowering.
@janbb Not noticeably. Also I think the second bush (with the dogwood like blooms) gets small round blue berries.
I thought the bushes were the same… I see now, one has four petals and the other has five. And it looks like the flowers are in different places on the plant. The leaves really look the same to me. Well, I think the one with four petals is definitely mockorange. And the one my parents had didn’t smell like orange, but it had a pronounced sweet fragrance. I always figured the name was from this plant smelling like orange blossoms, which also have a sweet scent.
Could one be bunchberry which is a member of the dogwood family?
The other does look like a magnolia.
Yea! @Bellatrix! That is what it is! So it’s a relative of dogwood. That explains the resemblance.
But bunchberry isn’t a bush, it’s more of a ground cover… plus the berries are red.
Uh oh, this is a tall bush.
