Is my employer able to see my web browsing activity when I'm (accidentally) logged into work google chrome account when browsing at home with my personal mobile device?

Asked by kiki76 (1points) May 26th, 2013

I used my personal smartphone at home on my own network to browse, but I realized after some time that I was logged into google chrome using my work email/domain rather than my personal one. Does this mean my employer can see my web browsing history, even though it was on my dime and time at home using my own personal device and my own internet service provider and home network?

Really, you have to ask even though you know it was your own isp and network and not the office one?

No, they can’t

So, being logged into chrome on my employer account (my.name@employer.com) when I browse doesn’t give them access to my google chrome browsing activities?

I am assuming that the password you use for work is not known by your employer, in which case he would have no way of seeing what you did.

No my password is private, but on the google account by my login it says “is managed by” my employer. What exactly does that mean?info what exactly can my employer manage?

I’m not 100% sure, but I know Google does store your browsing, so if your employer did get on your account, they might be able to see it. As for your employer being able to get on your account, a private password does not mean they do not have access to it. My work’s corporate IT team can get into anyone’s work e-mail.

The likelihood of your employer snooping on your browsing history is not very great. If you are worried about it, you can go into your browsing history and delete entries for the last few days.
